Hi,

MY FIRST WORK PERMIT VISA APPROVED ON 6TH AUGUST 2007
I ENTERED ON 31ST AUGUST 2007
MY CURRENT TIRE 2 VISA VALID UP TO 31ST JULY 2012

DO I NEED TO EXTEND TIRE 2 VISA TO QUALIFY FOR ILR OR CAN I GO FOR ILR?

COULD ANY ONE ANSWER, PLEASE?

CAN I APPLY AFTER 10TH OF JULY 2012?

I think that you may apply for ILR shorty before your leave expires.

Did you change employers when switching from WP to Tier 2?
How long was the WP leave valid until?

Initial work visa was valid up to 07.08.2012. When I changed my employer I got tier 2 visa upto 31st July 2012.

Since you switched employers and at a time of your choosing, you cannot take advantage of the policy instruction 5.2.

IMHO, options:
1. Apply for extension in-time, and apply for settlement thereafter.
2. Apply for extension in-time and, after 03-Aug-12, request to vary your extension application to settlement.

Alternatively, follow Vinny's suggestion above.
