Tier 1 (G) Dependent, How critical is the Council Tax?

Post by mbasmart » Tue Jun 22, 2010 1:55 am

Hi, I'm in UK on Tier 1 General visa, since Nov 2009. Now, my wife and kids are going to apply for Entry Clearance as my dependents. I am submitting a tenancy agreement, but no council tax letter. Actually, I haven't received any council tax letter as yet, becoz we signed the tenancy agreement in May 2010. I just wanted to know that how critical is this council tax letter? Can the visa be refused on the basis that no council tax letter has been submitted? If you guys can reply to my query quickly, I'll be able to arrange a letter from council.

Second question is that the tenancy agreement has been signed by myself and a friend of mine who stays in the same house (shared accommodation). Should I submit a 'no objection' letter from my friend that he has no objection if my wife and kids come to this house and stay here? Or do u reckon it is not required???

An early response shall be highly appreciated...

My wife has taken appointment (at the visa application center, Islamabad) for 30th of June, 2010. They've told her that you need to provide 2 ORIGINAL bank statements. One original bank statement should be with the 'original set of documents' and another original bank statement should be with the 'photocopy set of documents'. Does that make sense? My bank (Barclays) sends me a bank statement every month. Now, will I have to go and get another bank statement and send it to Pakistan???

They've also told my wife that she needs to provide photocopies of ALL the pages of ALL the passports (including mine)... My visa page's photocopy has to be attested by a UK lawyer. What nonsense???

Hi, this sounds quite annoying and illogical. Are those in Pakistan refusing to accept the application if such documents are not provided?
My wife and kids will also be applying by early July from Islamabad.

The people at VAC Islamabad (Gerry's Fedex) have told my wife that you need to bring these documents (2 original bank statements, attested photocopy of main applicant's visa page, photocopies of each and every page of passports etc.). They said that you have to bring these documents, otherwise your case will be very weak. They said that 'Our job is to let u know of the latest information and the latest high commission requirements'...

Although these requirements have not been mentioned on the UKBA website. But I guess I'll have to adhere to them, coz I'm not gonna take any risk...

Can anyone, particularly the seniors, answer my query about Council Tax please?

I do not think Council Tax letter forms any basis for visa rejection/approval.

Tenancy agreement should be enough, provided count of occupants and the size of the house is not debatable.
