return to home country after a week

Post by poor_soul » Tue Aug 24, 2010 4:46 pm

hi experts,

two things happened to me in a quick succession:

1) i got my T1G visa yesterday

2) one of my family member expired last friday

my visa is valid from 17 Aug 10. i want to reach UK within 28 days (by 13 Sep) so that i do not have to go for multiple extensions. however i want to come back from UK after staying a week to be with my family in this grieved time.

pls advise whether i will have to go for multiple extensions if i go UK within 28 days, come back after a week, stay in my home country for a couple of months and then go back UK.

regards.

Under current rules, absence of more than 90 days in a single trip may require you to apply for additional extension(s).

OK, I will ensure that I go back to UK before 90 days. I heard somewhere that: short absences abroad needs to be consistent with annual paid leave. I dont think I will be able to find a job in a weeks time and therefore will not be able to prove it as an annual paid leave. Pls comment.

Absences are absences! It is up to you to prove (when you need to prove so) whether they were consistent with annual leave or work related or for some other personal reason(s).

Absences from UK on account of annual leaves are discounted, as also absences due to work commitments (business trips abroad) when supported by letter from employer certifying such work related absences. Any absences over and above these permissible allowances are not discarded when assessing residential requirements for settlement under PBS route.

thanks. just wanted to be sure about the 28 days thing: it does include nonworking days?

my visa was stamped on 17 Aug, which will be my 28th day?

can i travel on the 28th day or it is better to travel a day or two earlier than that?

13th september will be your 28th day. dont risk till you reach almost that date. what if your flight delays or whatever. I belive you should come asap start your ILR clock and then leave after few days.
