hello
As posted before, I am a PhD student, finishing in a couple of months. I am currently on a student visa valid till Dec 2012. However, I just got married recently, My husband holds a tier 1 HSMP visa and it appears best that I change to his dependant ASAP to facilitate my future stay with him.
However, I am now confused as to which name I should present my case under. I just renewed by passport last year under my maiden name, as was the situation then. all my other vital documents such as bank statements, degrees and home office docs are all in my maiden name as well and changing them to my married name can take quite a while. I am a little daunted as to the problems it may create in making the visa application wrt the confusion it may create in checking my ID. a friend suggested that i do not change anything and jst provide a marriage certificate proving my marriage and then say that I have not changed my surname after marriage. It seems that this is a rightful option here! any suggestions?
Since I will have to go home to process this visa there is another question bothering me very much. Currently I do have a student visa till dec 2012. In the worst case, if you dependent visa doesnt come through, will be able to come back to at least finish the last bit of my degree or will the non issuence of a currently applied for visa also cancel any other permits issued prior to that?
I have been in the UK for 4 years and have 2 UK degrees as well. Will have give my application any upper hand ?
