There is no definite list, you will need to look at guidance and look around to see what is required for your application. Each application is different so the list of docs are never same for everyone.

settlement - wife

Post by bookerw100 » Tue Oct 09, 2018 5:36 pm

hi

I recently finished application for spouse visa. I paid for IHS online. and also paid for my appointment online.
I am applying from outside the UK

When I paid for IHS, the website said "we will make sure we will include your IHS reference in your application"
but upon finishing the payment for the appointment, when I downloaded my application form, it doesn't have IHS referenced anywhere on the form.

Am I missing anything? if not on the printed online form, where will IHS payment reference go? only appendix 2?

I think if there is no specific section/column/box on the form then attaching the IHS receipt and writing IHS payment reference number on additional info section even at front page of form at top corner might fulfill the purpose.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

Check the ‘checklist’ file instead of application form file.

Spouse visa urgent query

Post by bookerw100 » Tue Oct 23, 2018 5:37 am

Hi I recently got married and have my spouse’s appointment in New Delhi this Thursday.

I have ILR

Do we both need to add spouse’s name to our passport before we apply? I’m worried as there is not enough time to do this before Thursday.

Cheers

spouse visa query

Post by bookerw100 » Tue Nov 20, 2018 2:16 pm

Hi

My wife gave biometrics on 25th October, I then posted the documents from UK which I sent to Sheffield on 3rd November. I have already received the documents back.

The latest payslip I submitted was dated 28th September and I got it signed and stamped employer on 4th October.

However of course by the time I sent the documents to Sheffield, the payslip is beyond the 28 day period. Should I have submitted my October payslip too as I got paid on 26th October (as 28th was sunday we get paid on Friday before 28th of each month)?

28 day rule stops after application is submitted online. So it doesnt matter if it's past 28 days when someone does bio-metrics or when UKVI receive the documents.

Spouse Visa from Delhi, India - our experience

Post by bookerw100 » Fri Nov 30, 2018 12:32 pm

Hi

I wanted to share our recent experience so it may help others just like others' posts helped us.

We applied for biometrics from New Delhi on 25th October. First of all, we only realized when we got there that you don't need to take supporting evidence with you, just the application form, passport and your priority print out if you paid for it. I would suggest if you think your application is straightforward to go for the priority as in our case the application was straight forward and they beat their own 30 day timeline (26 working days in our case). Also pay for text service, its around 150 rupees but worth it as emails from UIKVI can be moody, sometimes they send, sometimes don't - having seen various threads on this website.

From Delhi you can opt to pay VFS to send your documents directly to Sheffield but they charge around £100 for upto 1kg of documents, defo not worth it as it takes a while to reach UK too, not quick. I sent the original and photocopies of documents from the UK on 1st November with special delivery and it reached them on 2nd November but I only had the royal mail receipt, nothing directly from UKVI. Fir priority application they want to receive the documents within 10 working days of biometrics.

A week later on 08 November I received all the original and photocopies including photos back from UKVI along with the generic letter that they are returning the documents and they decision may not have been made yet.

Following this, next week on 15 November Email stating "Your Application is currently being prepared for consideration by an Entry Clearance Officer".

Then after that we heard nothing from anyone. We did ring a couple of times on the premium line to get a status update and both times it said "Awaiting decision"

Then today, 30 Nov we got a text saying that the application is at the VAC and can be collected. Visa granted for one month on 26th working day.

I thought I will share our experience to give some hope that not all applications are delayed and i really hope everyone who is waiting gets it soon.

Any questions feel free to ask on this post.

Great, congratulations.

Did you carry the documents back to UK with you?

yes, I was in Delhi when she was doing her application, so when we realized that documents have to be sent to Sheffield, I just brought them with me and posted from the UK.

Hi now that my spouse is here, I want to make sure I plan everything so there are no issues when it comes to renewal in 2 and bit years.

Is there any documents or something we should start to keep hold off - proof of staying together or something? I wanted to get her name on council tax but they won't do it without my wife's name on the tenancy agreement. The thing is any new agreement will be of 6 months which I don't want to sign.

I have registered her on the voting

Any other ways we can start to collect documents..or just anything else we should be aware of that will help us later down the line - any comments appreciated

Yes, you will need 2 years evidence of cohabitation etc.

See page 63/64 of the old FLR(M) form which gives examples of what HO expects to see.

https://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov ... -form-flrm

You will also need to meet the same financial requirement and she will need A2 English (as the rule stands now) but can do B1 so that she has it for ILR.

thanks for the response and link, however it is a bit unclear from the form - do we need 2 years from when the spouse first moved in together or 2 years prior to the date of the application as the visa is for 2.5 years?
