Hi all,

Just now received my Ceremony invitation letter and I already manage to book the group ceremony with Newham council for the date of 1st December. (thought will do straight private ceremony as it will make things faster, the earliest date was 14th January. Then I checked group ceremonies and it was available 20th November, and 4 days week after and 30th November, too). So now so happy and waiting for my ceremony, it was written that it will take place in Newham Registry Office, so seems like they are not providing the online ceremonies, and still ceremonies are taking place during the lockdown. Letter states that I have to contact my council within 21 day, but from the date on letter it passed already 22 day, still managed to book.

Will write my timeline here:

Date of application: 5 August 2020
Date of biometrics:19 August 2020
Decision email: 2 September 2020
Letter date: 27 October 2020
Letter received: (I have a redirection as moved out recently from my council) 18 November 2020
Did you receive the invitation letter via the postal redirection? I thought Royal Mail doesn’t redirect gov letters.
I have received by post, with redirection. Royal Mail redirects all post to the new address.

Hello everyone, I have been silent reader on this forum for few weeks. I was approved end of August and since than waiting for invitation letter. Last week I emailed CT casework team chasing for letter and they replied as below:

“Thank you for your email. Your application currently awaiting the outcome of external checks and you should hear from us shortly.

Your sincerely
Xxxxx”

This is confusing me now as what do they mean by “external checks” and why are they doing external checks after sending approval letter? Where do I stand in terms of citizenship now? Can someone advise please.

Thank you
Hello jetk, how long it took for ct to respond. I emailed them as well a while ago but no reply yet?

Hello Doc12345 I emailed them last Sunday and they replied back yesterday. But as Baybars1 said it’s not worth chasing them. You should chase citizenship support.

Hi all,

I’ve managed to book my ceremony online today despite my letter not having arrived yet (newham council)- ceremony booked for this Tuesday 24th November.

My letter may come Monday but even if it doesn’t I will print out my approval letter and take that with me as since I managed to book online they definitely have my certificate.

My timeline is as follows:
Date of application: 20 May 2020
Date Biometrics enrolled: 14 August 2020
Date of approval: 26 August 2020 (letter attached to email)
Ceremony letter received: 21st November
Letter dated: 13th November
Ceremony: 24th November 2020
Council: Newham
I wasn’t home when I received the letter (21st) but turns out it was the same day as I booked it online. Thank you baybars your model was pretty spot on!

Sounds like an automated email many applicants have received at various stages waiting for approval.
I would reply to the email pointing out you are already approved.

Hello alterhase

Upon me asking them to clarify yesterday they replied back with very generic answer as below:

We make routine checks on all our customers when an individual applies for British citizenship and once they have been confirmed we will advise you accordingly. Unfortunately I am unable to give you a time scale as every case is unique and some checks take longer than others.

Yours sincerely

I have already been approved so I believe they are just sending this reply to send me away. I will not chase them anymore. Also my council confirmed they don’t have my certificate yet even though I’m on my 13th week now.

Hi everyone,

I have been a silent reader for years, starting with my ILR journey and I'm so glad to be finally at the end of the journey now.
A huge, huge thank you to Baybars1, your model was spot on. I worked out my invitation letter would arrive on 24th November but it actually came in the post on Saturday 21st. Looks like a number of invitations were received on 21st November.

Congratulations to everyone who has received their invitation letter and hoping others will get theirs soon enough.

My timeline
Application date - 31st July
Biometrics - 18th August
Approval email - 25th August
Invitation later received - 21st August
Invitation letter dated - 13 November
Ceremony - Pending
Council - Havering

Still working out how to book with Havering but I've read multiple times they are more helpful than other councils, so fingers crossed.

Finally I received my invitation today
Approved 21/08/2020
Invitation received today dated 12/11/2020

Ceremony booked for 01/12/2020. Havering.
Hi, Congratulations. Can you please tell me how you booked the ceremony? Did you book online or do you have a telephone number? I've had to send an email as their website doesn't appear to be working and I'm getting through to a pre recorded telephone message. Thank you.

To me it sounds stupid. How come they have approved the application then if they had to run external checks.

I received my approval on 18th of September and still waiting for ceremony invitation. As it is still in 12 weeks period I am rather waiting.

Nevertheless, this is just a poor communication from their end !!

Hi, guys.
Such a question :
if Inv. letter wouldn't come ( lost, misdelivered, etc.) - what should I do ?
OK, I'll wait for a month ( my certificate received by my council on 18.11 ) , and then what ?
Whom I have to contact ?
It is a bloody ridiculous - get citizenship appl. approved, certificate issued and then wait for second class mail envelope....

So frustrating to be honest.

What about minikube and nnn15, both are May approvals as well I believe. Any news about your invitations?

Anyone else from May and still waiting?
