Portugal PR is as easy as it looks???

Post by Farazkhan1357 » Thu Jan 31, 2019 5:23 pm

Hi all,
One of my colleague told me that if you enter in schengen zone with valid visit visa and then you entered in Portugal before visa expiry so you can get a room on rent with rent agreement and you can also get a job there. If you have a rent agreement and also have job in Portugal then after 6 months you can apply for 1 year residency. And after 5 years you will be eligible for passport. Is that true?? Kindly guide me about this.
Thanks all

Ask your "friend" to provide an official link to this information.

You cannot work on a visit visa anyway if you are a non eu/UK citizen.

He or she has not used word "friend". I see no reason to highlight "friend" in a reply.

No, it is not that easy to get a Portuguese passport.
You have to live legally in Portugal for six years (3 years if you are married to a Portuguese national), you have to pass a Portuguese language test and you need to have a clean Portuguese criminal record.
You need to provide a certified translation of all your documents (e.g. birth certificate), as well as the criminal record from your country (translated).
You then submit the application and wait (can take a few months).
The application is quite cheap though (compared to the UK), only about 250 euros.
More information here: https://justica.gov.pt/Como-obter-nacio ... nos-6-anos
Good luck.
