Inviting my Family to attend my graduation Ceremony

Post by Mawi88 » Thu Mar 17, 2016 1:40 pm

Dear All,

I am currently working in the UK on a Tier 2 visa, however, mean while my stay in the UK I was doing my PhD. Finally my PhD has come to an end and I am supposed to graduate (if I pass my examination) in July. I would like my parents to attend my Graduation Ceremony, and therefore they require a visa. My parents have a good financial status and they are residents in UAE (Emirates), however, my parents are Syrian nationals and because of the on-going civil war in Syria and the consequencing Asylum seekers crisis in the Europe my parents have a little chance to get their visa approved to come and visit the UK eventhough they are resident of Emirates for the last 20years .

To improve their chances to get their visa application approved I am thinking of writing a letter to the UKVI, in which I will state that the reason for my parents' visit is to attend my graduation ceremony and they will be staying in a hotel (as I have a small flate) and they will be finanicially dependent on themselves. Also I am thinking of stating that I am responsible for ensuring their return to their country of residency (Emirates) and I am happy to provide any financial assurances that the UKVI request. I will attach a copy of employement letter and payslips

So I am wondering if the letter is a wise thing to do ? or it will make matters worse ?

Looking forward to hearing your opinions

Regards,

Personal assurances will carry little weight.

It is ties that hold and draw the applicant back to their home country that are weighed up.

As noajthan has said, it is your parents that have to convince the ECO of their personal, financial and strong ties to their country of residence (UAE) in the form of employment, payslips, bank statements, property, etc
