She does not have to leave the UK to apply for a spouse visa if she comes on a fiance visa.- Fiance visa, she comes to the UK to get married and then leaves and you apply for a spouse visa for her, if you can satisfy the financial requirements.

But, even if we do get married here, it still only means a 6 month stay on a visa?A visit visa is a visit visa. It doesn't matter if your spouse is British, settled, student or just a general worker here. You'll only be permitted 6 months max! If you want to stay longer, then you need a settlement visa! Same way a Brit would be allowed 90 days in 180 days max if you go to the EU. You need to apply for the right paperwork to stay longer. (Just to add) long term, we intended, to get married probably in Denmark, then live in Spain. (Not that I think it matters) but she did live & work here for 7 years, until 2000.

This 2 year living together would not be required if you were married.
So, lets say, we get married. What do we then need to do as far as visa's are required? And which visa.
I already answered this previously!!And, barring in mind she's German, and we get married in the UK, would I still be allowed to live in Spain as I'll be married to an EU citizen.
