From our experience, the vignette, which allows entry clearance into the UK will be valid for 30 days from the date of travel that you selected on the application form.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I would therefore really advise those who are still to apply, to carefully select the date of intended travel to the UK, especially if you wanting to join family in UK asap!

Hi ,

Can I just add that if you use online banking and are printing the electronic statements online, I would suggest that you have them authenticated by your local bank branch, by way of official stamp, date and signature. Just to be safe!

Good luck!

Since then iam the only shareholder. Do i need to show any proof for this or mention this to Home office eg: (like dividend paid given to each shareholders)

Kingston wrote:Hi just to update my spouses settlement visa has now been approved within 16-17 working days:-

Visa Category: Settlement (Married Partner)
Date of Application in VFS Center/Biometrics: 1st April 2016
VFS Center: New Delhi (Shivaji Stadium Metro)
Received at High Commission on: 2nd April 2016 (confirmed by sms)
Email from BHC and VFS on 24th April 2016 - confirming application ready for collection
Any interview date: None
Collection from VFS center: 26th April 2016
Visa Approval Status: approved entry stamp given 1st July -31st July 2016 (requested entry 1st July 2016)

So a great relief application approved without any headaches. Also am satisfied they stamped the correct date range that I required. You can state a date up to 90 days ahead of your application.

I had provided in addition to my wife's application form the following; basically 3 main points you need to satisfy them:-
Funds:-
- proof of income (in my case savings of 60k in UK ISA and 10k in current account alone were sufficient - no details of my employment were sent).
Accommodation:-
- letter from mother in support of application and advising I have my own double room in our family house along with council tax and utility bill. Solicitors letter for discharge of mortgage from back in 2001.
- mortgage statement and council tax/utility of my own flat. Original letter from solicitors at time of purchase in 2002.
Maintain relationship proof:-
- One photo from our marriage ceremony in May 2013 carried out at Arya Samaj New Delhi. I found it easy from here to obtain paperwork.
- Printout from ICICI bank my wife's statement since May 2013 and all money I transfer to her account all had my name attached hence funds sent to her almost every month of 20K RS.

Also please note:-
- I did not send any communication proof between us at all; only regular money transfer to her account from my own ICICI bank account done online and referenced with my name so every transfer had my name.
- My wife was refused two UK visitor applications in 2013 as they were not satisfied of her returning back to India! I advised this in the covering letter stating that at the time we had planned to split our time living both in UK and India but as this was not possible we have now decided to apply for settlement.
- Included photocopy of my visa stamp highlighted for the visit during marriage.
- Included photocopy and original boarding pass for my visit to see her last year.

I hope this all helps for any of you newly applying.

Hi,
Hi Kingston,
Congrats for your successful visa. Iam planning to apply for my family under cash savings. I have few doubts, is it possible for you to clarify it.

1) For how many months did you submit bank statement ? Can we submit just 6 months bank statement or do we need to submit for more than 6 months ?

2) Sources of income declaration, is it possible to share what you have declared.
Can i submit P60 for last five finance year as proof of income ?

I have savings of 40K in uk current account for 6 months and 36K as fixed deposit in indian. I want to apply showing the above proof. I confused with the above two questions. Thanks for you help.

Thanks
athivak

Hi Athivak,

Any savings amount you show eg. 36k in Uk current account you need to show this amount has been maintained in your account for last 6 months. Hence send only last 6 months statements. They are not interested in source of money or last 5 years P60. Only they are interested that you have 36k your account which you can access anytime to maintain your wifes expenses.
Similerly you can add your indian savings in fixed deposit. As this plus UK savings is over 62k you do not need show aby income/job proof as you are already satisfying the finacial requirements.

I hope this all helps.

I hope this helps

I should add that if any finacial/bank documents are not original and are printouts then you should get the bank to stamp/sign each page. For my wifes ICICI acc she requsted printout for all transactions since marriage from ICICI bank branch who printed, stamped and signed each page.

Also for your fixed deposit was this opened for last six months or more? If so the FD certificate will br sufficient alone. if less than 6months opened then you need show ehere this money was held so as to cover six month period.
Also this money needs to be accessable at any time. Hence can you close the FD at any time (and pay penalty)? If you can do this then this amount qualifies. If you are not allowed to access money at anytime then this amount does not qualify.

Hi Kingston,
May I ask you one question in regards to utility bills for my wife's application?
I rent a room privately (directly from the landlord) and all bills are inclusive.
Is it mandatory to send the utility bills if my name is not on any of them?
I've got a rental agreement between myself and the landlord.
Thank you for your advice in advance.

You need to satisfy 3 main points without any doubt falling on the ECO mind:-
1/ Finance - you will be able to support your wife £19K salary or £62k savings (or both combined if lesser).
2/ Accommodation - you can accommodate your wife
3/ Relationship really exists and not a sham marriage

If you are only renting a room in a shared house where the Landlord pays the bills your contract will be for the rent of one room in a shared house where bills are included.
Are you on the council tax register? If so you should show this bill having your name residing.
If I am the officer I would want to know how big is the house, how many bed rooms, living room, how many people live there, how many bathrooms and toilets and would question if the accommodation is suitable for another additional person to reside there. If it is a 3 bedroom house and 5 people live there they would class this as overcrowded.
The only way you can prove this is by getting a council inspector to inspect and verify in writing that the accommodation is sufficient and fit for purpose, how big it is and how many people live there and if sufficient for an extra person. You could be taking a risk going this route with your application.
To avoid this problem get your own place.
If I were you and applying for a spouse visa I would recommend/invest in having your own place, a self contained 1 bedroom flat for a new 6 months contract under your name for the whole property with bills and council tax under your name. Also with a letter from owner/agent that they have no objections to your wife joining you at this property once granted her visa. This way there would be no doubt you satisfy the requirement.

Thank you very much Kingston for you reply.

I think the only way to ensure that no questions are raised in regards to sufficient accommodation - to rent 1-bed flat as you advised.
I earn more than £18,600.00 and have savings on my current account (I transferred everything to one account last month). So with the proof of income I don't have any problems.

If you could kindly share your views on below:
1) Proving relationships - we have thousands of pictures (we met in London in 2013, so London pictures, then wedding a year later, holidays, family gatherings) I do fly 4-5 times a year to visit her, and we've been using IMO for the phone calls. But just recently I've realized that IMO doesn't provide you with the history of your calls and we started using another platform for calls. So now we're planning to use it at least for a couple of months so then I can print-out the calls history from my phone. Only 2-3 months of phone calls, do you think it will be enough?
2) Providing financial support - until the end of May I was transferring money via friend of mine who travels every 3-4 weeks to Moscow (work trips). Starting from this month I've started using Western Union after realizing it is mandatory to show the financial support. Will it create any issues you think?

I really appreciate your help.
Thank you.

Hi,

Does anyone know how long it takes for a spouse Visa from Mumbai on a priority application? Cost is £450 extra but any success stories would be grateful.
