No sooner than within 28 days before the 5th anniversary of the initial tier 2 visa start date.

Can I please confirm another thing. I would like to apply for my dependents for ILR at the same time I do.

My wife has been with me since my day 1 as Tier 2 and my son was born in the UK in 2016.

However, both my wife and son have been travelling outside the UK for more than 2+ months every year. Does this affect their application?

Many thanks
Jamal

UK born child does NOT need ILR if you plan on registering the child as British once you get ILR. You can skip the ILR and cost.
However, both my wife and son have been travelling outside the UK for more than 2+ months every year. Does this affect their application?
No issue, there is no absence limit for PBS Dependents whose visas were issued BEFORE 11th January 2018..

Thank you!!!! I am glad I asked, I never thought about it. I think you just saved me £2389 =)

Another question please - My SOC code is 2429 (Experienced worker: £33,900). I am being paid £32,800 at the moment (when I applied in 2017 this was required for exp). Since the ILR £35,800 applies to me, my employer has no problem increasing my salary from £32,800 - £35,800. However, I will only have one month's payslip showing the increased salary (July) and the letter from the employer confirming this too. Do you think this will suffice?

Many thanks
Jamal

Tier 2 General - ILR - National ID card?

Post by jnasir86 » Thu Jul 25, 2019 9:31 am

Hello,

Wondering if someone can help?

I have just started my application for ILR (Tier 2 Gen to ILR).

The application process asked for National Identity Card. Mine ID card (Pakistani) expired a while back and I haven't renewed it as I didn't have to.

Is it important to have the National ID card? I can renew it from here in the UK but don't really want to unless it's required as my current passport is still valid.

Many thanks.
Jamal

Not required. Only your passport is needed.

Even if the Pakistani ID card is expired, the NIC number remains the same. NIC number is also stated on your Pakistani passport itself. Simply state the NIC number because you have a Pakistani citizenship number.
You should say NO to valid ID card question but yes to Expired ID card question and state the NIC number there as it remains the same.

Thank you, that's helpful.

I think I'll go with NO @ ID card. I am filling in my application online. When I said NO, it moved past the question and did not give me any option to add info regarding the expired ID card =/. I wil go back and check if it does, in that case, happy to add the info as you suggested.

Question - Can the letter of employement confirming my salary, need for forseeable future and absences all be quoted in the same letter? Also, when quoting absences in the letter, do they need to quote all days I was out of the country or just the working days? They can quote all days and confirm it was all paid?

Do you have a cover letter format that I can use?

Many thanks.

Hello,

Question - I have finished my online application.

Whilst reading documents required, it asks to send only the recent payslip (1) and bank statement. I will only send one payslip as it states. My question is can I also send only one month's bank statement?

Thanks

It is mandatory to send one months payslips and one months bank statement.

Thanks. Yes, I meant one month's bank statement instead of three month's bank statement as most have stated.

Hello

When writing a cover letter or when the employer is writing the letter, who should they address this letter to, please?

I called the helpline but they said they don't have an address.

Since there is no address available, which one should I use?

Thanks

You are overthinking this completely.

Simply address the letter as follows :

UK Visa and Immigration
SET(O) Indefinite Leave to Remain Department

To Whom It May Concern

Hello,

Submitted my application yesterday and got an appointment today with Sopra Steria for biometrics. I went for self-scan and uploaded the documents myself.

Just curious, do we send our current BRP and passports somewhere or do they not require originals at all? If they don't require originals at all does that mean that we can travel once our application is being processed for ILR?

Thanks
J

No, not required to send.

You cannot travel out of the UK once your have applied. If you do, your application will be considered withdrawn.

Hello,

Just noticed on the timeline section that people have posted that they checked their status on right to work website. Which website is that? I can't find any website that shows the status of the application.

Many thanks

You clearly did not look back a couple of pages in the timeline thread where it has been posted many times, as well as in numerous other topics on the forum.

Actually, I did but wasn't sure if it updates the status when ILR has been approved as it seems to be associated with the Tier 2 BRP number.
