Asking for days absent for naturalisation (again)

Post by dunks1887 » Tue Dec 17, 2019 10:55 am

I submitted my naturalisation application in June of this year which included a full Excel form listing all the days I have been absent from the state since arriving in Ireland and the purpose of those absences. I did not break the 6 week "rule".

This month I received a letter asking for a list of all days absent, despite having included this in my intial app. Do I submit the same list of absences that were relevant at the date of my application or do I send an updated list? If so, up until the date the request letter was sent or the date I send the response? My holiday travel last year and this current year will affect the number of days absent in 365 days prior, but either way I am still within the 6 weeks discretionary absences.

Hey,

Dont know if this helps, but when I submitted mine I added just a page that had all the dates and the reason why I was out of the country, and this was accepted.

Yes I did this as well, but now they are asking for it again.

That’s perfectly normal. They do ask the same document again.

So should I provide the same exact list of absences I provided with my initial application, or provide updated list of absences from current date?

Since you are still within 6 weeks period, I think you should just send them an updated list

The letter requesting the documents would specify the exact period. I think you should stick to that timeframe and submit what they want. Supplying anything else may lead to more documents or explanations being requested

Exactly. Read the letter carefully.

It doesn't specify a period. It just says "dates of absence".

They asked me same. I submitted list of absences with original application, they wrote requesting list of absences again. I resubmitted what I already submitted.

Any updates since you last submitted your absences?

Nothing so far on my end.

The best thing is to ask them what they exactly need and mention that you have already enclosed your absence date in your application.
Did you include your absence date in your residency calculator. Even one day , you should include it. I did that in my application.

Yes, I included all that in my initial application. I had made up all days absent since moving to Ireland and did not violate the 6 week rule at the time of application.

When I received the letter asking for the days absent again, I had been out of the country for a few days since submitting my application months earlier, so was at the cusp of 6 weeks absence in the 365 days prior to the date receiving the letter. 41 days to be exact. I don't know if i can be penalised based on being out of the country since submitting my application.

I don't think that they are caring about what's happened after your submission date.
Ask them if you get confused. Or if you can post exactly what they have sent . Maybe we can help you more

Sorry if this is a bit off topic.

Do I have to be here for the entire year (no breaks) in the year leading up to my application to be naturalised. Or am I allowed 6 weeks away in that year?

Thanks
