Marriage visitor visa for Moroccan wife

Post by fsar00786 » Sun Sep 01, 2019 11:28 am

Hello all, Hope you are all having a great weekend. I heard alot about this board from a friend. So, I am here and this is my first post.

I am a British citizen and currntly working. I recently fell in love with someone in Morocco. We have been chatting and video calling for couple of months now. I am also planning to see her in couple of weeks time. I am planning to marry her and apply for her soon. I came across three options
  • Marry in Morocco and apply for spouse visa
  • Apply for a fiance visa
  • Apply for a marriage visitor visa
I am considering 'Apply for a marriage visitor visa' as it seems through this route we may Marry sooner. I am also hear if you marry over there. It takes agaes like at least 7-8 months to process the papers etc.
I can see you can apply for this marriag visitor visa to be even processed in 5 days. I was if anyone has taken this route of Marriage visitor visa and can provide bit more detail on their experience about this process, supporting doucments etc.

I am looking forward to hear from some lovely people here soon.

The cheaper marriage visitor visa is only to marry in the UK and then leave again, ie no intention to settled. You cannot switch to a spouse visa if you enter the UK on a marriage visitor visa.

Only a fiance visa, costs £1523, allows the marriage and then once married, switching within the UK to a spouse visa.

Not sure what 'papers take 7-8 months to process' you are referring to???

Hello CR001,
Thanks for your comment :) After she leaves and apply for spouse visa again. It will be easier to get it right as then she's already married in the UK.

I saw finance visa processing itself is 3 months. If I apply for fiance visa. Would it take me to prapare all documents as I need for the marriage visitor visa or more? Sorry, I didn't research much on finace visa as I thought marriage visitor visa is quicker and easier.

Despite marriage visitor visa looks easier and cheapest route but if you compare it with fiancee visa or spouse visa then finally you will see that its an expensive option. Easiest option that you both marry outside the UK preferably in your case in Morrocco and straight head towards applying spouse visa.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

Hi there, Thanks for your comment but I am looking at easiest and quicker option, not cheapest. To me it feels like either fiance or marriage visitor visa is easier as I have to arrange reception for my friends and family here anyway. I will also not have to depend or worry for Moroccan rules of marriage, paper etc.

Will your girlfriend's family agree to her marrying outside of her home country? For a daughter, this is unusual within the Moroccan culture.

If you decide to marry in Morocco, are you Muslim?

Hi Casa,

Thanks for your reply. No, her family didn't agree yet. She said her dad is going to speak with a lawyer but I hope they will agree.

Yes, I am a muslim.

Then I think fiancee visa is more suitable because she will be able to switch into spouse visa within the UK and you will almost need the same documents but recent ones.

Hello,

My advice is not related to immigration but I think will somehow benefit you as marriage is a very important thing in anyone's life.
Bro be very very careful while marrying a Morrocan girl. I heard a few stories about them and one incident happened to my close relative. Once they come here they accused the husband of domestic violence and tried to settle here as quickly as possible.
Have u watched that Australian guy video on youtube who married to a Moroccan girl?

I hope and I wish that this girl is sincere with u and truly loves u.

All the best.
