PBS dependant ILR same day UKVAS experience

Post by dependant101 » Fri Jan 11, 2019 2:36 pm

Just want to post my experience of the applying for ILR. I am a PBS dependent and my partner has already become a British citizen through the 5 years Tier 2 to 1 year ILR to BC route.

I filled the online application form in early December and paied £3018 for the same-day appointment.

Being a PBS dependant, I was only asked for the following documents:

Mandatory documents:
Passport

Other documents:
Life in the UK Test pass notification
The degree certificate to prove the level of English language required
Evidence of immigration status in the UK
Declaration to confirm consent for the Home Office to request verification checks
Current Biometric Residence Permit

Surprisingly, there was no requirement to submit evidence of cohabitation.

Next I was sent to the Sopra Steria website to book my appointment. I found it quite frustrating that there was no appointment centre in London that had free appointments. I had to select Croydon to book a free appointment.

I booked my appointment for 9/1/19 and attended the appointment at the Croydon Centre. It was quite organised, and it took approximately 45 minutes to check-in, submit biometrics, attend the appointment, and leave.

I had uploaded my documents online, and the person at the desk, did not even see the originals.

The same day (within a few hours) I received the following email from the case worker:
Our policy states:

319E. Requirements for indefinite leave to remain

To qualify for indefinite leave to remain as the Partner of a Relevant Points Based System Migrant, an applicant must meet the requirements listed below. If the applicant meets these requirements, indefinite leave to remain will be granted. If the applicant does not meet these requirements, the application will be refused.

(e) The marriage or civil partnership, or relationship similar to marriage or civil partnership, must be genuine and subsisting at the time the application is made.

Can you please provide evidence to demonstrate your marriage is subsisting at the time you made your application?

This can be a utility bill, council tax bill etc that states your home address and has both you and your partners name on.
Within the next hour, I sent them:
1. Council tax bill (9 months old)
2. Utility bill (6 months old)
3. Joint bank account statement (current)

If I had a recent bill, I would have just sent 1 document, but since the bills were very old, I sent the joint bank account statement (current) as well.

The next day (before 8:30 AM) I received the confirmation email that the ILR has been granted.
