Please let me know whether they will consider my GBP reference as a professional reference

Thanks!
They will accept your non-citizen GP as your professional reference. But then your other reference has to be a British citizen and over 25 years old.

Hi guys,

So, what's the current status? Are GPs allowed to countersign passports, for instance?

Don't think the link given in the first post takes you to the right page.

This list is not exhaustive, i.e. any person of "a recognised profession" (which I take are professions which have regulatory bodies) or "a person of good standing in their community" can be a referee or a countersignatory. They have removed doctors from the list, but they are still a recognised profession, so I'd like to hear from people on this forum if they have recently faced any issues using doctors for countersigning passport applications or as referees on naturalisation applications.

We don't know any religious minister. The Dentist know us for more than 3 years, since I used to take my elder kids to him for check up. But he denied because he knows my husband as his patient since last year. What am I supposed to do?

Hi Eshu, How did you manage to do this in the end. I am facing same issue no one wants to sign it....GP, Health visitor etc. Not sure how to proceed. Anyone please help me with this?

Yes, not an issue. there is no rule that says they must have been British from birth or for X amount of years.

We have a family friend who has known us for more than 3 years.
He is a doctor. But work as a locum doctor through his own limited company.
He is the director of his limited company.

Am I correct in understanding that he will qualify as professional referee?

If yes should he put his occupation as
Director of limited company named xxx rather than doctor..

TIA..

Dear forum users. I’ve just received a successful confirmation for my British citizenship application (I am Latvian). I used as a first Professional referee - my Café manager (Polish nationality), cause I am working in the coffee shop and as a second referee (a British passport holder who is over 25 years old) - my assistant manager (Russian nationality) in the same coffee shop. So I recommend you to use your managers in your current jobs as your referees (of course this recommendation only applies if you have known them for at least 3 years like in my case). And neither of my referees were contacted by Home Office. Good luck to all of you with your applications. Thank you.
