Can I travel in the mid of extension process

Hi All,
I have applied for UK Tier 2 ICT Long terrm visa extension and its in process at the moment. I have received my passport and old BRP. I will get new BRP within 8 weeks . Current BRP is valid till 15th January 2019, in the mid of extension process Can I travel to outside the UK and come back before January 2019. ?
