Also received brown envelope today 6/1. Date on letter was 19/12! That's 2+ weeks of stressful delay.

Did you miss the fact that there have been 3 bank holidays and festive season and likely reduced staff over this period?? Ho take up to about 20 days to respond, you don't get immediate response from the generic emails.

Just received my brown envelope today! Applied for citizenship in August 2019 and approval letter was dated 24th of Dec 2019. Been stressful waiting because even though it was under 6 months, most friends who applied after me received theirs early. Emailed a few times and no replies.

Whoever is waiting, the approval letter will eventually arrive. I was stressed for a while even while it was approved in December.
Wish you all the best

I did and got a reply just now that my application is under background checks to enable case worker to take a decision

So I had 3 updates each one of them is different and step behind.

I am in a complete mess

🙄

Thank you Ifycamilla

Hi Sousa49, you did the right thing to email them...I believe the information you got from them is the right one...I did the same thing, I emailed this same email address and they were the people that have me an accurate answer...keep emailing them every week. Put up the pressure on them. I sent 5 emails while my case was with them

There reply made me miserable.my MP secretary called the Home Office on the 7th of November and they told her that my application was allocated to a case worker.the reply today means it is not even with a case worker yet.. I am so sad

dear moderator,

I am on ILR for few years and going to do the naturalisation application soon. I did a pearson academic test while applying for ILR. As i am going through the requirement for the naturalisation application, I came across this statement from the relevant gov.uk site, 'You can use a B1 level qualification that’s run out if you’re applying for citizenship and it was accepted when you settled in the UK. It does not matter if the B1 level test you took is not on the current list of recognised tests. You do not need to take another test'.

I guess that means I do not have to take another test. Just like to confirm it you guys. hearing so many random stories about the requirement for language test than I can really use you assurance. thanks guys. Mohammad
When did you gain ILR status? On or after 28 Oct 2013?
Per guidance:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... n-guidance
"If you met the requirement to have sufficient knowledge of language and life in the
UK when you applied for settlement by having a B1 level test you do not have to
demonstrate it again. (People who applied for settlement on or after 28 October
2013 needed to have had a B1 level qualification.) "
Hi alterhase58,

I applied for ILR on 13th Aug, 2013 and it was issued(granted) on 9th Dec, 2013. I did a Pearson Academic test for that application and used it once for the ILR application. Since I applied before 28th Oct, 2013, can I go through my naturalisation without doing the B1? Plz suggest, thanks.

Hello lovely people , may I please ask you for your opinion/experience

These Naturalisation application contradictive updates I am getting from the Home Office is driving me crazy

I applied on the 23rd of August
The 7th of November my previous MP secretary had very kindly called the HO and got an update that my application is to be allocated to a case worker.
On the 5th of December I emailed the Natiotalitysupporteamfmt@homeoffice.gov.uk team and they said I will be contacted by post with 21 days

On the 23rd of December as I received nothing I contacted the same email and they said it is with a case worker

Today as kindly suggested to contact he Nationalityfrontendtechnicalspecialists@homeoffice.gov.uk as they might be more accurate and they replied that the application is still under background checks

So each reply is a step behind.

Who to believe and what to do?.

Please advise

I applied on 21st May 2019 and still waiting...

I sent the first e-mail to the HO at the end of October 2019. HO replied standard eg: "Can not process in 6 months target time"
I sent the second e-mail on 29th December 2019 and HO replied the same as generic e-mail. HO reply is

We aim to process all applications within 6 months from the date submitted. However, in certain circumstances, this target is not possible. Following our assessment of your case, unfortunately, it appears your application will not be processed within the 6-month target.

We expect to make a decision on your application as soon as we can, I am sorry for the delay in dealing with your application and for the inconvenience, this is causing. Please be assured that we are doing all we can to make a decision on your case as quickly as possible.

What I noticed in this e-mail that a previous reply from HO contained a person's name at the end. This time there is no name but www.homeoffice.gov.uk. I assume HO office had lots of inquiries during this Christmas holiday and they sent a generic e-mail in a one-click job.

Is there any other method to know about my application status. It's been 7.5 months now.
