Photograph for baby - Baby is closing eyes - Looking for alternative

Post by prashanthphp » Sat Jul 04, 2020 11:22 pm

Hi

Today we had an appointment with UKVCAS for an extension. We all have given biometric but except one. Our baby is 2years 2 months and she is shy. As soon as she saw the new people in the UKVCAS she closed her eyes and was not willing to open her eyes. We tried all ways but we couldn't succeed. Hence UKVCAS has withdrawn our booking and asked us to book another appointment.

We are worried about now. Is there any way of submitting a hard copy of a photo or softcopy of a photo taken at home with a white background or in a photo studio by a photographer.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone can provide us an alternative?

Any suggestions I make in the forum are out my personal experience and should not be taken as a legal/professional advise.

I had a similar experience as my 2 year old did not co-operate while they took a picture at the post office back then for biometrics appointment. He was intimidated by the automatic moving camera and enclosed booth

After trying about 45 mins we had to come back another week. We mentally prepared him by explaining as much as possible to drive his fear out.

We were finally able to take a picture but his mouth was wide open. This was still accepted.

In your case, try a few things out:
1. Calmly explain the process
2. Take a phone/tablet with her favorite song/rhyme. You may try holding this above the camera if the staff allow
3. Tell her that you will offer her a surprise/gift if she co-operates

Good Luck :)

Thank you very much for your reply.

I will give a try. Taking a letter from GP explaining the phase that she going through. will that help in relaxing the photo or accepting a Photo taken outside compiling UKVI rules?

I am not sure. I think only UKVCAS can answer. Do call them if urgent

Unlikely there will be any relaxation. Digital photo from UKCVAS is mandatory, it is also part of the verifying identification process required by HO.

Thank you CR001 for your reply. Will they accept the Digital photo taken with closed eyes if we provide a GP letter about her Social Anxiety
