Thanks guys,
We have got around 57 signatures in just one day, which is a great progress and shows how frustrating the citizenship delays issue is for everyone. Please continue to sign and share it with those concerned, friends, family and on other platforms such as media etc and with your TDs. I hope that it s fully live now and everyone can find it.
Many thanks for everyone s support.

I fully support this petition and have signed it.
However, this thread is about a different topic, that is, those who already received a citizenship acceptance letter and are awaiting for the ceremony. The petition is to speed up applications reviews.
Please post in the relevant topic.

Same here, I've signed and shared the petition, but I thought that the initial objective was to have the Minister to organize new ceremonies. I think we should focus on that

The July ceremony didn't go ahead, so I think we can post on this topic until a new date is announced. At least, we have a common platform that we are all sharing. Making a new post might defeat this purpose. Thanks for signing.

Totally agree. I appreciate citizenship applicants are also struggling during this uncertainty period.
But we need to keep track with the discussion topic.

A petition about citizenship application backlogs will have less chances to win as the number of applications awaiting decisions is much higher than approved applications awaiting the next ceremony.
Also, both have different blockers and hence plans and actions from government.

Best of luck for everyone :D

The Dáil is resuming this evening. We should hear more about citizenship soon enough. :)

Apologies - it was meant to resume this evening but is adjourned until further notice. Cabinet need to isolate for a week or so. Pretty sure we’d hear about the report of the e-ceremonies.

As the department has been working form home, they couldn’t bring in passports, etc due to data protection. Wonder if the Minister can only sign off in the department/her office.

Anyway.. petition or not (please don’t take this the wrong way- not being rude), its public health over anything else.

Hope we hear about the citizenship in a week or two.

One topic can have several sub topics as well.
It s not just about this petition winning, it s more about being part of the problem and not the solution, and sitting idle and do nothing about this injustice and inequality.
They need to find a solution for both backlog as well as approved applicants. Please dont sound too negative.

Having said the above, this petition will definitely win. We have got more than around 220 signatures so far and that too in just one and a half day. This means people are getting to know about this unfair treatment and are willing to support the relevant applicants.

There was and is no public health concern for the e ceremonies. If there was, then those 21 people would not have got the citizenship in the pilot ceremony.
To all the people leaving negative comments, I would simply ignore you. Like it or dislike it, you guys are part of the problem and not the solution and I dont have time to listen to you all and reply you. Sorry if you dont like this, but it is what it is and we have had enough of you :D :P

I'm sorry but I think its not fair to write this:

¨A lot of applicants also believe that some nationalities are being delayed for an approval, while others are not facing this problem and their applications get prioritised in general and they get the approval sooner."

Some countries are sharing information (EU) so it's easy to get information from those ones, even tho, some people from EU countries are still waiting for a long time.

I think some assumptions should be reconsider.
Go straight to the point, delays, don't play around.

If you read earlier posts and comments, there is data to support this and this is evident from the figures published by INIS. Do some research please, before throwing comments, arguments and criticism.

To those who are asking, what will happen after this petition. I ask you:
What happens after an organised protest?
Around 2000 taxis gathered in the City Centre the other day to protest (from Merrion Square to BallyFermot).. What will happen after that?
Having seen such irresponsible questions, I have started ignoring all criticism and am not replying all such comments here.
Protesting is everyone's right, no matter in what shape or form it is in. Injustice will still remain injustice regardless of how people protest. This petition is also a form of a protest against the unjustified delays from the govt.

A person lives here for 5 years, pays his taxes and has a clean record. That should be enough of a proof that he is of a good character and not a serial killer who kill stay quiet for 5 years and only start killing again after exactly 5 years. All applications were being approved in 6 months before the last Minister came. There was no concern about information being shared by some countries. It's all rubbish I'm afraid. I think some people here just want to increase the number of their comments and that's why they ask illogical questions that they can answer for themselves. Whatever, keep trying and good luck!
Your comments only make us stronger :D
And
We'll keep ignoring them wherever we can...
