Child Benifit for Child on Visa

Hi. I hope everyone well. I'm new to this forum. I have a question as I'm going to apply for child benefits form my child born abroad & on a family visa. He has no recourse to public funds on the home office visa extension letter. But both me & my wife have ILR from last year. My son completing 10 years next year. Can I or my wife claim child benefits?

You can call child benefit. It is the parent that claims, not the child.

You can apply for ilr for the child on form set F. No need to wait.

For Child Benefit, if you are not a person subject to immigration control, you can claim for a child for whom you are responsible for, regardless of the child’s immigration status. However, if the child’s leave is subject to a no recourse to public funds restriction, claiming child benefit for her/him could affect their right to remain in the UK. Thank you! But JB007 above says we need special immigration advice before I claim?
