Expired passport for BC naturalisation

Post by abo1 » Fri Dec 31, 2021 12:56 pm

Good afternoon, please can I use my expired passport for my citizenship application because Nigeria high commission has not given me an appointment date to process my passport. though I have used my driver's license as my proof of identity for my LIUK test.
Please what can I use to proof my Identity apart for my passport?

Thank you for your response. I found this while reading the guidance
SECTION 1: Evidence of identity: required for all applications, either:
• *your passport
• *National identity card
• *Home Office travel document
• *Home Office entitlement card
• *Home Office ARC letter
• Home Office Biometric Residence Permit
• your birth certificate
• *your driving licence
*if you used one of these documents when you took the Knowledge of Life in the UK test you will
be expected to use it again by enclosing it with your naturalisation application.
If the name you are currently using is different from the name on your passport or travel
the document you must send evidence of the change of name.

Therefore, I have used my photo drivers licence for my KLIUK test with my expired passport with my BRP card. I think I should be fine. Because My country high commission is not giving passport appointment for now due to covid 19. but you can still advise me if you have any other way around this.
many thanks

Proof of living in the UK for 5 years if applying in your own right

Will, any of the following documents, be sufficient from the date my passport expired:

- A residential mortgage statement
- A dated, addressed council tax bill
- An annual bank statement, or an account summary covering 12 months, showing payments received or
spending in the UK in at least six months of that year.

proof of freedom from immigration time restrictions
- a biometric residence permit for ILR

Please advise?

Hello vinny, CR001 please I need your help
1. Passport - expired 6/2020.

*Therefore to proof this, should I use my drivers licence because I used it to take my life in the uk test.
With my council tax demand bill for years, 20/21 and year 21/22 to cover the years of passport expiration.

After running a dummy application. They only ask for the expired passport.

* Also to proof my years of Residency should I use the same document as above or add other supporting documents.

* Or is my drivers licence enough as it was mentioned in the guidance.

2. ILR BRP card
3. Life in the UK Test
4. Degree certificate

Please advice.
Many thanks

Select the correct category while filling the AN application. It asks if you have a valid passport. Select NO. Then it will ask details of the expired passport. As long you have a valid ILR, there should be no issues.

If your passport expired in 6/2020, add some proof of address e.g. bills and council tax after 6/2020. Also explain the in the cover letter that your passport expired in 6/2020 and you had no means to leave UK after your last travel. Add a copy of all the stamps during the qualifying period including a copy of the stamp when last time you entered UK.

Thank you cullinan. Regarding referee,
* Can a family use the same referee? Because I want to apply at the same time with my family.
* Apart from the referee form, there is a need to fill referee details in the online application. Am I going to add the a copy of referee British passport with the application?
Or the online application form and the referee form a different document altogether?

Good morning, please I would like to know:
* if I would need to supply referees with British passports as part of supporting documentation or do I only need the number of the passport to be filled on the application online.?

*What is their passport number? xxxxxxxxx.
My question is: do I need a copy of the referee's British passport to support the application or do I only need the 9 digit number.
* Example
How does the referee know the applicant? xxx
What is their passport number? xxxxxxxxx
Does your referee have a British passport? Yes
What is their profession? Registered Nurse
What is their email address? @yahoo.com
What is their phone number? 00000000000
Have they lived at this address for more than 3 years? Yes
Address
Second referee's date of birth xxx
Sex xxx
Second referee's family name xxx

* For my child born in the UK when I have not had ILR.
I hope the answer to these questions is right?
Nationality details
Country of nationality: Nigeria- because parents are still Nigerians at the time of applying for naturalisation
Do you have a valid passport? No
Date of birth? 00/00/0000
Place of birth? Shire
Country of birth? United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
Explain why you are unable to provide a valid form of identification? I have not travelled outside the UK since I was born.
please advise as I am in the middle of the application.
and lastly, can I apply as a family using the same application by just adding another application?
Many thanks

Re: Expired passport for BC naturalisation Re referee query

Post by abo1 » Sat Jan 08, 2022 6:28 pm

Good evening all. I have got some questions any assistant will be appreciated.

Question 1: Can all applicants share the same referee? (as I am finding it difficult to find people to be referees.)

Question 2: for the children 1st referee, can a registered nurse (RN) be their referee.
(if the school teacher is refusing and GP, health visitor or social worker cannot be seen due to covid.)

thank you.
