Its supposed to be after 8 years!MyHSMPApplication wrote:How does this bill affect the ILR?
Sorry for being naive in this aspect but just wanted to get an understanding. I had a look at the draft version of the bill, but I couldn't find anything that deals with the ILR i.e. after 5 years of residency.
Cheers

Changes will apply to new arrivals after the new laws are passed, and not to foreigners already living in the UK, so reforms are only likely to affect migrants arriving from 2010.
When migrants start respecting the UK then perhaps the UK might start respecting migrants a bit more. It's a 2 way street, our immigration laws are being flaunted on a daily basis, you only have to see the scam colleges to realise that, and yet you expect us to respect migrants more? Whilst a lot are genuine, it's the minority who are spoiling it for all migrants, just like the whole football hooliganism stigma which is still surrounding English football nearly 20 years on from Hillsborough and Heysel.confusedhsmp wrote:RE: 8 year Citizenship
If you read the draft it says that it can be accelerated to six years provided you do the community service. Still in debate.
If 8 years happens, we are better off signing off from UK and working in countries who respect migrants.
Gurkha? HSMP JR? what next? Tier 1 & 2?
U r rite man.. all the immigrants are on benefits and taking all the state pensions.. thats really bad buddy.. they never paid a billion pound tax every year its someone else... they are not holding 75% of big financial positions its someone else.... they drunk all the money in weekends some one else do the work... U opened our eyes...meats wrote:When migrants start respecting the UK then perhaps the UK might start respecting migrants a bit more. The only migrants, out of the list you gave above, that deserve the respect of the UK is the gurkhas. What they went through to get PR was a disgrace and it should've been given to them straight away.
