Quick question meanwhile- Is there an expiry date for the BC approval letter by which one has to schedule and attend the citizenship ceremony? one of my friends said its 3 months while another said it is 2 ...just want to be sure as I might need to delay my ceremony (assuming I get approved !!) to January as I will be travelling to my country of origin in December and so won't have sufficient time to get my British passport and get an Indian visa stamped in it.

Cheers

3 months and this would be mentioned on the letter itself....

For those applying on the basis of marriage to British national and have lived in the UK for 3 lawful years, are you supposed to supply the spouses passport or Birth Certificate, if the spouse was born in the UK will Birth Certificate suffice.

If the relationship is going through a rough patch, but there is no divorce, can a spouse still apply, based on marriage.

hello everyone!

I would be very grateful if you can let me know how does it work?
i applied for naturalization (wife + spent 9 years in the country) on the 20th August via NCT. I called HO on the 29th Sept and was told that the decision was made on the 28th Sept. I'm still waiting for the letter to arrive (bloody postal strike). If the decision is positive, apart from the letter from the HO, should I be expecting an letter- invitation from the council for the ceremony as well, or should I book the ceremony after I receive a letter from the HO? I'll be calling HO tomorrow to ask to resend the letter as it's getting ridiculous.
Many thanks!

Did you phoned up to get an appointment or got it via the post because I realise you only submitted your application about 1 week ago?

Thanks

Justice_will_reign: I called them to check the status of my passport application. I was informed a letter had been sent out for me to book an interview. I got the reference number and called 03002221000 to book the interview.

Is it worth to call home office and check the status of my application?

or

Call the council to check if they have recieved my certificate, in my AN form i did not mention any council for my ceremony because i live in ilford so assumed that they will send certificate to my local council and i have applied from NCS haringey.

Any Advise please!!!

Give 3 weeks for processing the application from the date your credit/debit card was processed, then give another 10 days for the letter to arrive. Check most of the timeline above, you will realise that is the case. All the best!

Hi Raving Fire,
If I were you I would give it till the end of this week after which I would phone the HO and ask if a decision letter was sent to you in the post? say that you are worried that it might be delayed in the post (postal strike) ! this way atleast they can give you some indication without infringing the data protection act.

Naturalization fee

Post by sidster007 » Wed Oct 14, 2009 8:50 am

Dear all,

I am a bit worried as the HO haven't yet charged my credit card. I applied via NCS, Westminster on Thursday the 8th of October and my application definitely reached the HO the next day (have checked on the Royal mail website).

Is there anything I can do? is it worth calling the HO to see if they have indeed received my application?

Cheers

Hi Sidster007,

I don,t think so its worth to calling HO , In my case they charged my debit card after 6 days, just wait another 3 days end of this week, i hope so definetly they will charge your credit card in next 3 days.

I know its very frustating after submiting apllication. Best of luck.

Thanks for your message Racing Fire. It is indeed very frustrating...more so when I begin to anticipate timelines after going through posts on this forum ! maybe I should not long in for a few days.

Thanks anyways
