You can apply as soon as you have ilr, provided you meet all the requirements for an application based on 3 years residence as the spouse of British citizen.

Travel during Naturalisation Application

Hello,

Given that I have a valid ILR (which will allow me re-entry in to UK), can I travel out of the country when my naturalisation application is in progress?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, both are needed now due to new rules.

VFS can accept an application for renunciation with only receipt for surrender for ease of administration, but in the background, the surrender is issued first and then on basis of that the renunciation happens.
Perfect. Very clear. Thanks BashirB :)

Re: India Passport, Citizenship and PIO card: Surrender + Renunciation + Application

Can the surrender and renunciation of India passport be done in one shot? Or is a 'Surrender certificate' needed prior to applying for renunciation? You could. Depends on getting appointment from VFS. I know for sure in other countries its done at the same time by default. There are users who have ...

Hi BashirB - Is the penalty after 3 months or 3 years? I heard/read somewhere that the passport needs to be surrendered within 3 months. You have 3 months grace period after obtaining foreign citizenship to still use Indian passport , but only IF (and only IF) you have not yet obtained foreign ...

Re: Problem with new renunciation cert requirement for OCI application

Surrender of passport and Renunciation of Citizenship are two separate matters. Just because you are now a pardesi does not mean what doesn't make sense to you is automatically illogical. There are numerous scenarios where only one of the above are applicable: - Government of India can deprive ...

As someone mentioned in the post, we can't always rely on the words or emails from officials, because it seems like many Indian officials aren't entirely clear on the rules and they go with their assumptions.
