so when I come back in to the uk after being in Italy at the end of May how do I make sure they issue me with a visitor visa at the border? You can't 'make sure' but if you explain your plans and ask they may issue you with one. Be aware that in such a case you can not work from that point on. I wi...

Yes, she can switch to spouse visa without leaving the UK under the current rules. Ensure you accumulate sufficient proof of living together, tenancy agreements, joint bank statements etc. YMS validity starts from date on the visa - this can be post dated by up to 3 months from date of application (...

Re: Stolen US Passport Containing UK Visa- travel to EU

Apparently a TOC costs about 600 pounds and it wouldn't make any sense to have one put in a temporary passport. I don't think you can get a TOC as you are not in possession of the old visa. As ridiculous as it sounds, if you want the PSW visa replaced you have to reapply and pay the full fee. See b...

You do not need to disclose he is married unless it explicitly asks that.

In any case it is not an issue.

According to the immigration rules it is 100% possible. People who answer phone queries at UKBA are notoriously unreliable.

Just to add to what Greenie has said, you do not need to go back to NZ but do need to leave the UK and re-enter.

Also keep in mind you can stay past the expiry of your Tier 1 by 28 days with little or no issue.

Does he meet the requriements of the business visitor visa?

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... /business/

If yes he can be granted one on entry. If no he needs to apply for the relevant visa before departing.

Under the new rules coming into force in December you would be very close to qualifying with this arrangement, as you will be allowed 180 days absence each year. Assuming you have annual leave and those days are spent inside the UK you should be able to come under the limit. http://immigrationboards...

Looks good at first glance, however: provided the absence is due to an employment, including annual leave, or business related reason or there are serious or compelling compassionate reasons for the absence. To me this implies that absences outside of these circumstances (ie: unpaid leave) are not p...

Another major advantage is right to reside and work in any EU country. [edit - I see that was mentioned briefly above]

And if I understand correctly, ILR must be reissued when the containig passport expires, with an associated cost? or has that changed with the BRP cards?

Getting an appointment inside the 42 day window is extremely difficult as it requires someone else cancelling the same type of appointment you want, and you finding it and booking it before anyone else does.

I'm not sure of immigration consultant recommendations but others should be able to help.

There is a thread in this or the Tier 1 General forum which covered the best strategy to get an appointment, find it and read it.

If you are randomly trying you have no chance.

Otherwise pay an immigration consultant/lawyer for one of their preallocated slots.

As you say, the RoA certificate expires upon expiry of the passport in which it is endorsed. Normally, when a new passport is issued, the old one is cancelled, i.e. it's expired, and the passport authority puts a stamp in it to that effect. If this is the case, then you couldn't rely on the certifi...
