Re: Multiple Entry visa for UK - Rules!? Help! (long term vi

The rules for visit visas are broad and generalised. Basically, a visit visa is meant for visiting and not residence. The visitor is expected to be resident in his home country for longer than in the UK. That is the basis of the 6 months rule. However, if the person has a habit of being resident in ...

Re: £18600 threshold for Spouse Visa - Help!

I am in my final year of law and will hopefully be securing a 2 year solicitors traineeship as soon as I graduate. One of my former flatmates was a trainee solicitor and was earning £24,000. Once he completed his training phase, he jumped straight to a salary of £51,000 with guarenteed annual salar...

Re: Suggestion: A 'Like' (thumbs up) feature

Tricky question. Firstly, if an up-vote (thumbs up) option is being considered, it would be remiss not to consider a down-vote (thumbs down) option. The risky part of such behavior is that contentious discussions (such as the one of the EU referendum) may become more visibly divisive by listing how ...

Re: PR (EEA) in case of Brexit?

Do you guys think that we hold exactly the same rights? Yes EEA passports already contain the biometrics of the holder and hence they just get a certificate stating that they have PR. Non-EEA citizens who acquire PR get a biometric card stating the same thing. That way, their biometric data can be ...

Birth certificates don't have a validity period. What do you mean by stating that it is not valid?

Re: PR (EEA) in case of Brexit?

The short answer is, nobody knows for sure.

It is likely that there will be transitional provisions and that the PR will be converted into ILR under the UK Immigration Rules, but nobody knows for sure.

Did you try the steps I suggested? Your external IP address (which you can see by going to http://www.whatismyip.com ) appears to have been blocked by third-party blacklist providers, not just this website. Following the steps I suggested will allow your modem/router to release the IP address and, p...

Re: Not living together with (spouse visa) wife

You have mentioned that you have a British passport. If so, she can not stop you from returning to the UK.

If she were to complain to the police, they would investigate and if need be, arrest you. But they can't stop you from returning to the UK.

can she become a permanent resident of UK now as she has been in UK for 5 years? No, because from way your question is phrased, it sounds like the two of you are not married, but in a durable partnership. For her, her PR clock started when she got her Residence Card as durable partner of an EEA cit...

I would suggest moving all posts starting from my post at 7:12PM yesterday through till (but not including) 357mag's post earlier today into a new thread in the General Discussion section, while retaining the rest. I had suggested earlier merging this thread with the one already existing on the EU R...

Do you and your Iranian wife belong to one of Oriental Orthodox or Assyrian churches from Iran (such as the Church of the East) or are you followers of an Evangelical Christian faith, such as the Assembly...

That is so true. Football bores me to tears, as do most sports.I enjoy most forms of music, but don't ask me to learn it. And I haven't got a TV at home. So, I suck at references to TV programs. So, it is true, I am the worst person to add to your team on pub quiz night. My team invariably comes las...

Re: Non-EEA spouses excluded from EEA-route under EU-UK deal

Wales is not a province . Northern Ireland may well be. The United Kingdom does not have the concept of provinces. Calling them nations may have implications in international law. The Danish via media was to refer to the Greenlanders as "people", as opposed to either "nation" or "country". Also Sou...

The Soviet Union was an acknowledged federation (The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) and was in many ways similar to the EU. The EU indeed is traveling in the same direction of travel as the United States, which started off as a very loose confederation of states (witness the Articles of Confed...

The gov.uk website gives you a simplified overview of the process. The detailed explanation of the process is given in the Nationality Directorate Instructions. Read Sections 6.11.22.11 to 6.11.22.18, with a particular emphasis on 6.11.22.12.

I did not intend to cause offense either. I have a fair bit of understanding of the history and politics o...

Re: Non-EEA spouses excluded from EEA-route under EU-UK deal

Maybe the best result then would be for the UK to vote out, and the EU to ditch the proposals. Then I move to Scotland which becomes independent and re-joins the EU. I too would welcome a "Leave" victory, but for different reasons. The EU only makes realistic concessions when faced with a No vote i...

As my example illustrated, the country votes as one. Parts of the country do not get an exemption because they voted another way. Kent tends to vote Conservative, Newcastle votes Labour, Glasgow votes SNP and Northern Ireland has its own parties, but they can not plead an exemption from the policies...

It will be a constitutional outrage for the England to take them out. Not constitutional; political yes, but not a constitutional outrage. The United Kingdom is still a single unitary nation-state. When Switzerland, which is a confederation, not a unitary state, had a referendum that would have the...
