Need help with application please

Post by secondnikki » Thu Nov 12, 2020 8:04 pm

Hi all. New here.
Back ground. I am a British citizen and my wife is from the carrabian. She has been in the country for 15 years and we have been married for 10 years always going down the flr (m) route. Its been a nightmare to book her life in uk test this year due to covid so have decided to extend again. The health care surcharge has just gone up again so we were exploring other routes. We were looking at the flr (lr) route which has a cheaper health care surcharge. She has been in the UK lawfully for longer then 10 years. Does anyone think this will be a good idea to go down this route or would we face difficulties? We have children that are British citizens. Sorry for my ignorance but any help would be fantastic. Thanks in advanced.

When does her current visa expire?

If she has had FLR M for 10 years, she could have applied for ILR a long time ago already.

Thank you for your speedy reply. Her visa expires in 2 weeks time.

We regret not applying for the ilr a long time ago and is something we definatly will be doing if next. My wife is not comfortable with the live in the UK test and it has been a nightmare to book one.

Is the long residency a good route to go do you think?

Thanks once again

That route (SET LR) is beneficial for some because of entailing skeleton set of documents due to requiring no financial documents & documents about others (dependants/sponsor). Equitably, it has its own demerits too especially relating to the absence threshold for maintaining the continuous residence in comparison to SET M - ILR which attracts the financial threshold to be met whilst imposing no absence limit. Therefore, that is entirely rest with an individual person but in all cases the LIUK & B1 test (if not from English speaking countries/holding UK degree) remains the centrepiece.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

Sending documents covid

Post by secondnikki » Mon Nov 16, 2020 3:12 pm

Hi all.
So I have paid for my health care surcharge and paid for my flr (m) which I done all online.
Now usually we will go to the post office and tsend my documents off recored delivery. Is this still the case during lockdown? Also I used to go to the post office when to scan my fingers and face for biometric. Is this still the case? Online its asking me to book an appointment that cost£135 and then a further £44 to go through my documents. I think I have lost my way somewhere online and I need some guidance please.

Thank you in advanced

Topics merged.

Nothing is posted to HO.

You have to book an appointment with UKCVAS for biomterics and scan and upload your supporting documents before the appointment date.
