NTL to BRP Postal Application

Post by Hello:2017 » Tue Apr 18, 2017 2:00 pm

Hello all

I have been living in the UK since 1979 but on a foreign passport. I have now been advised that I need to apply for the BRP card! I have sent off my application by post to Durham on 20th March, the fee was debited from my account on 21st March but to date, I have not received any correspondence. I have sent off my current passport and my passport which contains my "indefinite leave to remain".

Can anyone tell me how long this process is likely to take?! I am getting extremely anxious now as reading some of the posts about the NTL to BRP, is really making me nervous!

I would really appreciate some of your advice on this matter....

Thank you all for your time :)

It's jus very worrying as the Home Office do not acknowledge your application, they do not text you or e-mail you despite asking for this information.

I think as long as your money has been received by them, that's when they start to process the application. It should be simple enough for my situation, I have "settlement" in the UK and have had the Indefinite Leave to remain since 1979!.

I got my daughter's British passport back in under 1 week over the Easter break!

Let's all hope for the best...please can send any updates on your cases.

Thanks everyone and let's pray and have faith.

When I had to replace my daughters BRP a couple of years ago, it took about 5 months from date of applying to receiving the correct BRP (HO sent the wrong visa category with the first BRP they sent). We had to cancel a holiday to our home country due to this.

I believe there is a same day service for this now with BRP card sent to you within 7 days after your appointment but this costs an extra £591 on top of the application fee.

That's quite a long time...I thought my case would be quite straightforward! I've been living here since 1979, I have studied here, I work here and both my daughters have British passports. I have an indefinite leave to remain.

It's scary as you can't contact anyone!

Thanks for your help and reply.

Hi yes, I totally understand.

There is an address that you can write to? The address is:

UK Visa & Immigration
Liverpool Settlement Casework
PO Box 306
Liverpool L2 0QN

I did read in the NTL guidelines that it's normally a month after your postal application that you receive the biometrics invitation letter and 20 working days until you receive your documents back.

I am at work right now so can't check the post but the funds were debited on 21st March.

I hope we all receive this biometrics letter very soon. I also wish that they would email it to you as it can get lost in the post.

Good luck and thanks.

I received my acknowledgement letter on Friday in the post. Did my biometrics on Saturday. When will they send back my passport? The lady at the post office said the biometrics card could take up to 6 months before I receive it!

SOOOOOOO happy we got our letters!

FANTASTIC!
Make sure you enrol your biometrics ASAP. I did mine on Saturday. It says in the letter you have 15 days to enrol...

Hi

I applied for a BRP using the NTL postal application form. I have been here 27 years and have ILR and was only made aware of the BRP requirement when I went for a new job recently.

I did my biometrics in April and still waiting. I tried upgrading to the Priority Service but was rejected. Does anyone know why?

My dates are as follows:

Application sent: 17/2/17
Payment taken: 21/2/17
Acknowledgement letter received: 31/3/17
Biometrics enrolled: 1/4/17
Approval letter from HO rec'd: waiting
Passport rec'd back from HO: waiting
BRP rec'd: waiting

Many thanks,

Nina

I made a BRP name change application using form NTL

Applied on 23rd Jan
Took money 25th Jan
Biometric letter 6th Feb
Biometrics enrolled, 9th Feb

Not heard anything since.

It is slightly worrying when I have not received any email communication of any kind.

I was under the impression you got emailed status updates???

I'm not sure if it's worth me trying to contact home office to check they have my email address correct?

There appears quite a few of us here at a similar timeframe. let hope we can all write any updates!

My guess is that it may be complicated for them because they have probably destroyed their previous records on you concerning their grant of your ILR. They may also have the burden of proof, if they think that your ILR has lapsed.

Thanks for your reply Vinny.

I enclosed my original letter granting me ILR in 1995 which should assist the HO in verifying that I have ILR. My ILR shouldn't have lapsed as I have only been out of the country on 2 x different occasions for a maximum of 9 months each time - backpacking and an employment secondment in 1995 and 1999 respectively.

Good luck Paulio. I see that you did your biometrics much earlier than me. I hope you hear something soon!

Many thanks

Nina

Hi Nina,
I'm in a same boat,
Applied back in Feb 2017.
Payment taken out in March
Biometrics taken 5/4/17
Email received around the same time with case reference.
Still waiting although I already hold ILR since 2002.
Any ideas why is it taking so long?
I thought my application would be straight forward. Since I already have ILR - on paper not on a card.

Nope mine 23rd Jan, nothing to report yet.

=4m 2d so far, (67.777%) of 6 months lol.i have been really tempted to upgrade to premium as waiting on documents back to start a mortgage application.

But surely should be anytime now.... and I'm not that keen on forking out another £490 for the sake of a few weeks, But I must admit I am a little worried, but on the other hand 6 months is the guideline,

Thanx paul for your reply. Well i just got a reply to an email i sent to home office a few week ago.

Good morning,
Sorry for the delay in replying to your email. I can confirm your application is in a queue awaiting allocation to a caseworker. We strive to have all cases decided within 6 months and your documents will be returned once the application is decided.

Alternatively you can request your passports back at any time, however it must be returned within 20 days of receipt. So we advice not to book any non-urgent travel while your application is under consideration.

It surely cant be any longer.
