Travelling in schengen area under uk visa

Post by curlzi1 » Mon Feb 01, 2016 5:23 pm

I'm on a UK Tier 5 youth mobility visa (2 years to work and reside in the UK) with an Australian passport.
I know there is the rule for Australians in the Schengen zone, without a visa you can stay up to 90 days in the Schengen areas then you have to leave for 90 days before reentering another Schengen zone.

I'll be taking on a new job in march based in london, where i'll be a tour guide around europe. If I'm correct around 54 days of the training trip are in Schengen zone countries, only leaving 36 days. What happens after your 90 days is up in the Schengen zone, do I then not do trips for 90 days or do I have to apply for visas? or does it work different for me since I'm working??
I was just doing research on visas when the thought crossed my mind. I emailed the company and got a reply with "I am no expert here but I believe that if you have a visa then the schengen rule about leaving for 90 days does not apply. This will be something to worry about once your visa had expired"
I haven't had much luck finding this answer on the Internet and when I've tried calling the embassy here with no luck getting through.. I have only seen sight regarding some form of info but it doesn't make sense.

You can't work on a Schengen visa, so the question is redundant.

one of the replies i got from someone before

"This is by no means official information, but a number of trip managers do not have official visas of any variety and are just operating on a slight loophole (technically not working in the UK as they are only guiding groups to and from, and 'holidaying' throughout the Schengen zone). The only official borders that need anything from an Aussie passport are Turkey (which you'll have a visa for) and UK (which you have your tier 5 for). I don't know of anyone that has encountered issues with the 90 day limit in the Schengen zone, because you're constantly on the move, and ducking in and out of it. You won't accumulate 90 days straight in a Schengen zone so that could also be the loophole that has kept so many people going for so long. Sorry I don't have much more to offer as I'm on a Brit passport. Just figured it would ease your mind to know a number of former Trainees turned TMs have managed in the same situation without getting deported or anything horrid"

I would like a clearer answer than this though... is this technically illegal? is the company risking me being banned from countries?? i would like a definite yes or no..

Are you seriously contemplating working for this outfit :?: :!:
Australians who are likely to exceed the cumulative 90 day limit, or who are visiting the Schengen area for other than tourist or business purposes, should contact the High Commission, Embassy or Consulate of the country or countries concerned to obtain an appropriate visa. Visa rules relating to work and business visits are governed by the individual countries.

Very illegal and not only liable for a Schengen-wide ban, but also have a new arsehole ripped by the German Finazamt, they will look for you, they will find you, and they will kill you. Well, not the last one, I got carried away in Liam Neeson mode!!

Good Luck!

OMG, I have pee'd my pants now laughing at this Wanderer. I know that rubbish well.

Seriously though to the poster, the EU is clamping down and there are checks on most borders now (not freedom of entry at the moment) due the substantial migrant crisis (never mind sexual attacks, muggings, etc). You really are putting even your UK visa at risk, which for UK work and UK holidaying.
