Travelling with old, but valid BRP

Post by sprabhuhr » Wed Aug 08, 2018 4:51 pm

Hi,

I applied to extend my Tier 2 General visa on June 15, 2018. Standard processing time of 8 weeks ends on August 10, 2018. Haven’t got a decision yet, my passport and previous BRP are yet to arrive by post. I have booked tickets to travel to India on August 16, 2018 and back to U.K. on September 2, 2018.

My previous BRP is valid until September 14, 2018. My round trip ends before my previous BRP goes invalid. Assuming I get my passport and previous BRP back in time for my trip, can I travel without waiting for the new BRP?

Can someone please offer some advice?
Thanks in advance.

You get your passport and documents around the same time as approval.

Your old BRP will be cancelled and unlikely to be returned though as far as I understand as your new visa will supercede it.

Thank you for the link CR001. Looks like keeping my hopes up is the only option now.
