Citizenship Eligibility after ILR

Post by shazz251 » Fri Apr 21, 2023 8:38 pm

Hello,

We came to the UK in 2011 with my Mother, as her dependents. She had spouse visa.
I’ve been granted ILR and it has not been a year yet. I’m also over 18.
Wondering if I can apply for Citizenship straight away or will have to wait?

You have to wait till you have held ILR for 12 full months. When you came and how old you were is irrelevant as you are an adult now.

Presumably you have the B1 English test and LIUK done already?

Thank you!

And yes, I’ve already got my B1 and LIUK. Assuming they’ll still be valid for Citizenship application in 12months time?

LIUK have no expiry date. However, a new ‘British values test’ may replace it.

B1 may have an expiry date, unless you used it for a successful ILR application.
