Child born in UK Before my ILR

Post by mrfaizankhan » Fri Apr 19, 2024 4:22 pm

Hi,

I have a question, my child was born on Jan 24 and i got my ILR in March 24, should I apply for him the British citizenship first and then naturalization or I can apply for his naturalization directly ? Kindly advise as the citizenship fee is £1,210 and naturalization fee is quite cheap

Secondly when i am filling up his citizenship application it appears a following question and what should I select, as i have to apply for the passport on March 2025 for my self:

Form Question:
Are either of the parents of the child (as stated in this application) applying for naturalisation as a British citizen on an AN form? (Required) Yes or No

Kindly advise, many thanks.

Why is naturalisation quite cheap - not required of course.?

Kindly advise, many thanks.

Thanks very much but how can i use form MN1 as my child was born before I got my ILR, child born in 29 Jan and i git my ILR on 06 March.
I believe I am supposed to use Form Set O ?

Lastly my wife was issued a dependent visa on my work. I should be using form M for her right ?

Thanks in advance.

Form MN1 is for registering a child as british if born before a parent got ilr. It is an application under section 1(3), which is an entitlement to register as british

Form SET O is for ilr, you are not applying for ilr for the child. The child doesnt need ilr.

Your wifr applies for ilr on form set o.

Please do NOT ask ilr questions in the british citizenship sub forum. Post ilr questions in the ilr sub forum
