NARIC Assessment & Absence in UK

Post by lakhanarayana » Tue May 26, 2020 11:03 am

Hello Admins & Fellow Members,

I'm an Indian national in UK under 5 yr Tier 2 General visa expiring on 6th Aug 2020. I have been working with the same company with same title for last 5 yrs. I have gone through all guidance in this forum and i have below questions.

NARIC Assessment - I have done my high school & Bachelors degree in India. Also, i have done Post Graduate Diploma from Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand.
Note: NZ degree is NOT a Masters. Its is a Post Graduate Diploma (which means that i have to do 3 more papers to get a Masters degree while it is higher than a Bachelors/Bachelors with Honours degree)

Question: When i apply for NARIC assessment
1) Should i do one for Medium of Instruction (for my high school and Bachelors) and one Statement of Comparability (for my Post Graduate Diploma) or is it sufficient to do Statement of Comparability only.
2) I understand UK universities provide Post Graduate Diploma. Would you be able to advise what UK level certification are those i.e. B1, C1 etc.

Absence in UK - I have been away from UK for a span of 30 days (6th Nov - 5th Dec 2019) as we had our first baby during which time I was working from home in India. I have my line manager's approval for the same and as per organisation's guidelines for my role, it does allow me to work from home but does not delve into details whether i can do it from India.
Note: Including above time, my total time spent away from UK is only 152 days during the whole 5 yr period.

Question: Will this be an issue?

Application Submission - Just thought of double checking this - Date of arrival in UK is 18th July 2015 (as per stamp in my passport). This means that i can submit my application after 18th June 2020. Am i correct?

Thanks in advance for your help.

The NZ Diploma is irrelevant. Your high school results are irrelevant.

1. You only need NARIC for your Degree and NOT your high school results or Diploma, the latter two are irrelevant. You need the NARIC English and Comparable Assessment, i.e. the NARIC UKVI Red Route option.

2. Irrelevant.

You can apply for ILR no sooner than within 28 days of the initial visa ISSUE date. It is not based on date of arrival in the UK.

PGD diploma is never deemed as higher than bachelor degree rather gives an opportunity to economically and swiftly convert your existing foreign qualification such as 2 years/none-honors bachelor degree into the standards/calibre of host country's bachelor degree. Your Indian bachelor degree & NZ pgd certificate more likely be equivalent to UK bachelor which should be sufficient if assessed by NARIC under red route.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.
