Naturalisation - Living in Scotland

Post by dilip_gem » Tue Jul 22, 2014 2:32 pm

Hi there,

I'm having ILR and my naturalisaion application is due in few months from now. For all past 5 years, I've lived in England. because of some circumtances I resigned from my job and looking for new opportunities. Recently I've been getting lots of calls for contractual assignments in Scotland. However, I'm not sure whether I should take up a job in Scotland given the current situation with Scotland going for referendum in Sep'2014. If they do get independance, would my stay in Scotland be considered as stay outside the UK? I'm getting calls for a three month contract. I've already been out of country for 45 days this year, so I'm left with just another 45 days. I'm in a state of confusion. Please advice?

Thanks and Regards,
Gem

September 2014 is only a vote of yes or no, it is not a definitive of Scotland leaving, that will take a lot longer to sort out.

You are worrying for nothing if you are applying in a few months.
