Why can't you support her? If you have a job, put down your incomings/outgoings, and any savings. Is she still studying? How does/did she support herself?omac007 wrote:I am a UK citizen and have lived with my Chinese partner for 3 years. We had a baby last week. However my partners VISA expires at the end of october 07. We are in the process of applying for a new visa however i am struggling to prove that i can support her, and the cost of the visa is so expensive. Will the fact that we have a child help our application or is our family going to be separated? These are worrying times!
Well if you can't support, you can't support her. Sometimes you have to just wait. Why not get yourself in a better position and try again? There's too much of this 'I want it now' attitude these days.omac007 wrote:I cannot proved that i can support her as the payslips from my job are printed off on my bosses computer. I have just graduated and i dont earn enough at the moment. The lawyer who is helping us with the unmarried visa application says i need to get a better job offer, and my payslips cant prove what i earn. She is not studying anymore, but supported herself via working part time. We can prove we have lived together for 3 years. I am considering informing the local media and my local mp, to see if they are able to help with our situation.
Just because the payslips are from the computer doens't make it worthless, you have bank statements, a contract don't you?omac007 wrote:I cannot proved that i can support her as the payslips from my job are printed off on my bosses computer. Make sure your child is issued with a British passport. Under the rules since July 2006, the fact you're not married is irrelevant provided you are shown as the "father" on the birth certificate.omac007 wrote:I am a UK citizen and have lived with my Chinese partner for 3 years. Well, here we go again with the judgmental attitudes. People are naive about "firm but fair" immigration control, people make mistakes, they're only human after all.here we go again with why are you getting pregnant if you can't even afford the visa?

Anyway, it sounds like the best way forward would be for you to get another job - perhaps a part-time job in addition to your curent one? - or for your partner to return to China until you're in a position to bring her over on a fiance visa.
Good luck, with perserverance and determination, you can make this work, even if it needs a temporary separation, if you both want it enough.
It is true about not human rights and not being separated but our UK gov will say yes, go to China.omac007 wrote:My child was not concieved for visa reasons and it does not mean you are stupid if you have a child by mistake. I will hopefully be able to prove i can support my family by the end of this month. I can afford the visa and if it means my partner returning to her home country for a short while then so be it. I have been informed of a human rights law which states a family should not be seperated is this true?
This is not a fair statement and I will advise you not to progress with it.And again I'm sory but yes you are stupid if u have a child by mistake haven't you heard of contraception or waiting until you can afford a child?
Jes the success rate of contraception has nothing to do with the issue.jes2jes wrote:This is not a fair statement and I will advise you not to progress with it.And again I'm sory but yes you are stupid if u have a child by mistake haven't you heard of contraception or waiting until you can afford a child?
The best of all contraceptions do have a failure rate and will cause pregnancy to occur when this happpens.
Getting pregnant by mistake does not in no wise mean you are stupid but really is what a mistake is and should remain so.
Others also plan for it and somewhere along the line circumstances change (like unemployment, sickness, accidents, lost of earnings etc which might cause an individuals earning power to diminish) which would lead to untold hardships.
To those who maintain this stance, I will only say, KEEP LIVING and life can throw you a 'curve ball' when you least expect it.
Have a nice day.
