Hi guys
I have an Angolan lady who was refused asylum back in 2002; as I understand things, she was granted one year "outside the rules" on account of her pregnancy. The year expired in December 2003, at which time her solicitor applied for further leave to remain. In spite of several reminders, she has never heard anything.
I have suggested to her that she not chase them up any further as by February 2010 her daughter will be seven and she may be eligible for ILR.
She is still gtting benefits, but would really like to work; her problem is that, although her original leave allowed her to work, and that continues to be valid as she applied for an extension in time, she has no proof that employers will accept that she is permitted to work.
Any suggestions please?
