IELTS Test Certificate Verification

Post by gnua88 » Mon Nov 24, 2014 4:11 pm

Hi All,

I apologise if this question has already been asked and answered, I did search for it but didn't find any topics.

I've recently taken IELTS and achieved Band 8 (Speaking - 9, Listening - 9, Reading - 8, Writing - 6). On the Approved English Language Test guidelines, it states that "For tests taken on or after 6 April 2013: no documents required (Scores must be verified using the Cambridge English online system using name, date of birth and passport number)" My question is, who's doing the verification? I checked the Cambridge English online verification system as well but it seems to be intended for organisations only.

I'm applying for ILR using SET(M) early next year so I'm wondering whether if I would have to include both IELTS certificate and the verification receipt.

Thank you.

I called Cambridge on their helpline and they said that they have a special website that home office can access and can verify "almost" all of their tests for immigration purpose.

Hope that helps :)
I am not an immigration adviser...All IMHO.

The way they've phrased the sentence doesn't shed any light on who needs to verify the IELTS scores. For example, if it was them who's conducting the verification, it should've been "Scores must be verifiable." or "We will be verifying the IELTS scores using Cambridge English online system." etc. But of course, ambiguity is part of their style so sticklers like me run into these questions all the time :) Nevertheless, thanks for the reply.

Yes, this helps. Thank you very much. I thought the same as you since that's the impression given off from Cambridge website but cheers for confirming it :)
Btw, really cool username.
