visa for elderly parents of ILR holder

Hi,
What are the exact requirements and documents if elderly parents of ILR holder want to come and live with his ILR holder son? Does the ILR holder son need to show financial maintenance and house/accommodations? What visa is relevant here and is that extendable from inside UK?
In above situation elderly parents are visa national of UK.

Financial undertaking for 5 years, no public funds inc NHS so private health insurance is required, budget £2k/month per person if elderly and with pre-existing conditions.

Visa cost is around £2k per app, and if refused no chance of visit visa thereon. Only a few have been granted since the new tighter rules since the criteria are impossible to fill.

Best to forget it.

From the link you quote, the following will need to be proved (and it is very difficult) for an adult dependent relative visa :

Coming to be cared for - you’re an adult dependent relative
You must be dependent on a parent, grandchild, brother, sister, son or daughter of someone living permanently in the UK.
You must prove that:
* you need long-term care to do everyday personal and household tasks
* the care you need is not available or affordable in the country you live in
* the person you’ll be joining in the UK will be able to support, accommodate and care for you without claiming public funds for at least 5 years
* you’re 18 or over

This visa is almost impossible to obtain and if refused, they would be closing the door on visit visas as their intention to settle in the UK will be known.

We know of only 3 or 4 approvals of this category visa (adult dependent relative), since the rules changed in July 2012.

Ironically, if a parent was in need of constant care described in the qualifying criteria, they would probably be unfit to travel on a long journey.

How about any alternative route like visitor visa/family visitors route/European route??

They can apply for a visit visa and will have to prove their ties to their home country and that they will leave before their visit visa expires. They cannot use a visit visa to 'live' in the UK.

You can also look at the Surinder Singh route by moving the 'centre of your life' to a EU member state for at least 6-12 months and use the EEA family permit route to come back to the UK.
