Concerning My PR. Please, I Need Your Advice.

Post by tolu1978 » Mon Mar 09, 2015 2:14 am

Hello Everyone. I am really grateful to this forum for all the advice being given to people. Thanks a lot.

I need your advice concerning an issue that is bugging me on a daily basis. I hold a EEA Residence Card ( Extended Family Member of an EEA National ) presently and this 5 Year Residence Card will expire March 2016. I am already thinking of my PR application next year. However, I am married but my wife does not live in the UK with me for now. She lives back home in Nigeria. I always go to spend time with her and on my last visit, I spent 2 months with her. I have never spent more than 2 months out of the UK. The plan is to apply for her to join me in England after I get my PR next year ( By God's grace ).

Now, I want to ask a question- Will I be required to meet the £18,000 pounds earnings level to be able to file for my wife to join me in the UK? I am asking this question because by then I will be holding a Permanent Residence Card ( EEA ) and not an ILR ( UK equivalent ). Under the EEA rules, will I need to be earning £18,000 to bring my wife to the UK to join me? I work at the moment with Agencies and my job is not a white collar job for now. So what can I do? And what do i need to do to bring my wife to the UK after getting my PR Card? Please help me out. Thanks a lot. Cheers.

Yes you will. As you will need to apply under the UK immigration rules (using your PR status) and not using EEA regulations (as you are not EEA).

Citizenship (adults, children, passport)
EEA (EEA FP, RC, PR, Surinder Singh)

@Jambo, thanks for the reply. I have been reading through this forum and you have always given excellent advice to people. Thanks a lot to you and the other moderators on Immigration Boards. I still need to ask one more question-

I work with agencies in the catering industry and I don't really work the same hours on a weekly basis. My work hours varies between 25-50 hours weekly. So I can't really calculate how much i earn every month exactly. So can I combine the wages from different jobs to meet the £18,000 earnings threshold? Can I also factor in my Ebay earnings into the £18,000 earning threshold to be able to bring my wife to join me here? Thanks a lot.

I am also thinking of becoming self employed to make extra money. So can money from employment and private business be combined together to reach the £18,000 earnings minimum to bring me my wife to join me here? Please, I need your advice. Thanks.
