Tier 2 (General) - BRP application for new born baby

Post by RDeen25 » Tue Mar 17, 2015 9:47 am

Hello,

I've recently become a dad, and currently I'm on the Tier 2 General visa with a BRP. I've applied for a passport for my son, but my embassy has said this will take a while to be processed (2-3 months). In the meantime I need to travel out of the UK with my family (to Europe) and have been told that I will need a BRP/Visa for my child to re-enter the UK.

I approached my embassy to try and speed up the passport process, but they advised me saying that a new born will not need a passport to get their own BRP and that a UK birth certificate and evidence of parents BRP will be sufficient. Has anyone else been through a similar situation? Is there an alternative approach?

I would really appreciate some advice.

Thanks.
Deen

Thanks for confirmation. I have the option of going for a temporary passport (takes less time to process), which is a non-machine readable passport valid for up to 2 years - will this document be accepted for the BRP/visa and travel in/out of UK?

Hello RDeen,

Would you please let me know which form did you use to apply for BRP for your new born?
I have similar condition, I have Tier2 General BRP and my daughter who was born in the UK. But I'm confused with different forms and procedures, ot knowing which one is the correct one to apply BRP for my daughter.

Thanks in advance,
AlexJan

Kindly refrain from digging up topics that are more than two years old. Best to start your own topic about applying for a visa for your child.
