Naturalisation checks

I was in UK on student visa from 2002 to 2004 and obtained an MBA from one of the recognised universities. Following my qualification, I left for India for 4 years and come to UK in 2009 on Tie1 General visa which I applied from India. In 2014, I got ILR and will be eligible to apply for naturalisation this month. I’m just curious to know if Home Office is going to revisit all my previous visa applications, including student visa applications in 2002 & 2003, as part of their naturalisation checks. Please note, my naturalisation application is not based on the student visa route, it’s completed based on tier 1 general visa route from 2009 onwards and also there was a big gap from November 2004 to April 2009 when I was not in UK. Can anyone sheds a light on this please.

HO have access to all your immigration records and can check history if necessary.

Your gap should be an issue if this is your concern as naturalisation is based on the 5 years immediately preceeding you AN application.

GAP is not an issue for me as I came back to this country on Tier 1 General visa in May 2009 and got ILR in April 2014. However, I have a little bit conern on student visa, as below, which was granted to me almost 12 years before.

I came to UK in Sept 2002 in order to pursue an MBA which was scheduled to be completed by Sept 2003. When I submitted my dissertation in August 2003, I was very confident that I would be awarded an MBA degree in December Ceremony and therefore got register with another college (don’t remember the name at all, it’s long time now) & also with ACCA body in order to pursue an ACCA qualification from December 2003. Since my student visa was due to expire in January 2004, I had to apply for an extension based on ACCA course, which was granted until March 2005. Following my student visa extension, it came to light that MBA degree won’t be awarded to me as I failed in one paper. Therefore I took a call to concentrate on MBA first rather than pursuing ACCA qualification. I had to resubmit an assignment which I did by June 2004 and subsequently awarded an MBA degree. Since I couldn’t clear MBA program at the first instance and had to rework on the assignment, hence I didn’t pursue ACCA qualification at all from the registered college. Following my completion of MBA in 2004, I returned back to India. Since I obtained student visa extension based on ACCA but didn’t pursue this as I had to go back to my MBA program and concentrated to complete this, will that result in any issue with the Home office now. Will I be alleged for deception during my naturalisation application, although I had no such intension. I’m just worried and want to ensure that everything is clear before I go for the naturalisation application. Please advise.

As I mentioned earlier, I got ILR in April 2014 based on Tie 1 General route. Hence I’m just wondering if HO carried out all these checks during ILR application too and nothing to worry now. I'd be grateful if you can shed further light on this and advise.

I don't think so there would be an issue, students are open to choose their careers and their options can change with time.

When I came here I changed my course from financial engineering to computer science. I just got naturalization.

Thanks, this gives me a bit relief...Just getting worried before my naturalisation application.

Any suggestion or advice on this from the moderator also please

Now a days since HO has changed the tier 4 procedures, it is mandatory to inform HO that u r changing the course or college. But it was not the case back in 2003, students were allowed to change course or college without informing HO even till point based system were introduced I think in 2009 0r may b later so U should be fine, I can not see any problem in it.
