I am just thinking time wise this option might be quicker.
Once again. Read the information in the previous post. Based on what you post you were granted ILR and this is not affected by losing your passport.

If you make a Subject Access request (to the Home Office) then they must respond within 40 days and they are in breach of the law if they do not. In that case, make urgent contact with your Member of Parliament.

Do not leave the United Kingdom without evidence of your ILR status.

And is there any particular reason why you have not become a British citizen?

Hopefully, the Home Office will have a record of your ILE/ILR status.

However, there's no harm in requesting the ILR letter from your father. If he can find it, it will also provide corroborating evidence. Also, you could try asking the British Embassy if they still have a record of your child settlement visa endorsement. But your ILE/ILR status from when you last entered the U.K. would be more important.

Next time, make a copy of your passport pages, especially those that contain important endorsements, etc.

Of course, include your lost passport number, especially if you had used it for entries into the UK! Date and port of your last UK entry may also be helpful to them. The ILR letter would contain a HO Reference. Your visa may also contain a HO Reference. Check also your mother's and brother's passports to see what they contain.

Give the Home Office as much information as possible to help them to find you and your ILR status on their database.

Dakolina, so sorry to hear about the loss of your passport.

First of all, send off your subject access request, with your £10 cheque, and in particular, ask for photocopies of your landing card in 1999 (give them the date on which you arrived and got your ILR) and ask for any information about your ILR. You can do the SAR under the Data Protection Act, not the Freedom of Information Act (you have no right to your data under the FOI).

Keep in mind that the Subject Access Bureau may take the full 40 days to get that information to you. They sent mine on the very last day. You may look into starting to work on your father and/or getting into temporary arrangements with the university till you get your ILR vignette from the home office.

If you had arrived together with your mother and brother and saw the same Immigration Officer, then their passports would also contain the Immigration Officer's ID number on the Immigration stamp. I don't know if this may be useful or not. It would depend on how they cross-indexed their database.

As you have a NI number, I don't understand why you cannot work nor claim benefits.

When you applied for a NI number, what evidence did you use? Did they make a copy of your passport?

If you have worked before, did any of your employers make a copy of your passport?

Good luck with everything.

I included my full name, date of birth, nationality, my lost passport number, the date of our arrival and the ILR was stamped in my lost passport and the £10 cheque. I don't know what other information I can include that might help, I thought about including my national insurance number? anything else?

thanks for your response
Don't forget to ask for photocopies of your landing card on the day you got ILR in 1999.

An NI number isn't proof one can legally work, and an employer needs to see, and take a copy of, proof such as the ILR sticker to show that a person is legally entitled to work.
I am not, and cannot, offer legal advice to particular people. I can only discuss general areas of immigration law.

People should always consider obtaining professional advice about their own particular circumstances.
