When did you return?jacques.braamse wrote:I obtained my ILR 2.5 years ago. However after only 6 months of having my ILR I was sent on an oversees assignment for just under two years. As I returned within 2 years my ILR was not affected. Can I however apply for British citizenship now or would I have to remain in the UK for a period of time before applying?
Not entire five years, if all else is fine then as soon as at the time of your application your absences in "past five years" come below 450 days, and "past 12 months" come under 90 days, you are okay to apply.jacques.braamse wrote:It was on a work secondment; sent by a British company to the HQ in Japan. Left April 2013 and returned March 2015.
Totally confused whether I can apply now or whether I need to stay in UK consistenly for 1 year with ILR or whether I need to redo the
entire 5 year period to meet the settlement requiremets
Lovely, good luck.jacques.braamse wrote:Thanks. That means only a 9 month wait. Totally doable.
