application on a 5 year route - VERY QUICK QUERY

Post by HarryC » Mon Jun 01, 2015 9:12 am

Hello, apologies for posting this if this has already been replied.
I came to UK in 2009, and got married in 2010, applied for spouse visa and after 2 years, got my ILR on 28 july 2012. I am unfortunately going through a divorce right now.
I was planning to apply for citizenship next week using NCS. I don’t think my spouse will agree to give me her passport or marriage certificate in order for me to apply on a 3 year marriage route. My questions are:-
a) Can I still apply on 5 years route. I am presuming yes.
b) Do I need to tick marital status “married” – Again I am presuming yes.
c) On 5 years residency route, I am planning to carry my passport, My Life in the UK certificate, my CEFR Grade B passing certificate from trinity, and my last 5 years from 2010-2015 P60. Is there anything else I need to carry?
d) Do I need to write a covering letter to UKBA that I am applying on 5 years route as in the current form, there is no option to tick.

a) Can I still apply on 5 years route. I am presuming yes. Yes
b) Do I need to tick marital status “married” – Again I am presuming yes. If you are married, you need to tick married.
c) On 5 years residency route, I am planning to carry my passport, My Life in the UK certificate, my CEFR Grade B passing certificate from trinity, and my last 5 years from 2010-2015 P60. Is there anything else I need to carry? Should be fine. Are you applying using NCS?
d) Do I need to write a covering letter to UKBA that I am applying on 5 years route as in the current form, there is no option to tick.No
I don’t think my spouse will agree to give me her passport or marriage certificate
Is your spouse British by Birth?
Did you get married in the UK?
If yes to both, easy to get documents from the gro website.

It will cost less than £20 to get the birth certificate of your partner and your marriage certificate from the gro. You don't have to have your partners passport, a birth certificate is accepted.

Thanks again CR001

I went to GRO and and if i order 2 certificates (i.e birth certificate and marriage certificate), the standard charges per document is £9.25 for standard delivery. and it says Standard :
Despatched on the 15th working day from receipt of order. Cost: £9.25 per certificate

As i am applying this week, i dont really want to pay for priority delivery which is £23 per certificate.

Can i just avoid this and apply on 5 years route. Do i need to carry any other document other than P60 (last 5 years), passport, ILR, English requirement (Life in the UK and english certificate)?

Thanks again

You can apply on 5 year basis if you meet all the standard requirements.
