Tier 2 ICT Long Term Visa Extension

Hi,

I was granted Tier 2 ICT Long term Visa in September 2012 for two years. I came to UK in Apr 2013. I got my visa extended from Sep 2014 to April 2015 to cover the 7 month difference between the date of grant and the landing date in UK. I got the BRP card with new validity period and same visa category. By April 2015, got a new CoS from the same employer for visa extension for another one year (from Apr 2015 to Apr 2016).

My visa extension is complete and i got the new extended BRP Card but the visa category is mentioned as "Tier 2 (General)" in my BRP card. From what i could understand from the immigration website (gov.uk) and other posts here, switching from Tier 2 ICT to Tier 2 General is not at all possible while in UK. i am not sure if this is clear case of mistake in printing the visa category in the BRP card. The CoS letter which my employer provided also states Tier 2 ICT Long Term visa and the corresponding CoS number is correctly printed in the BRP card.

Has anyone faced this kind of situation before? Is there a way to check my visa category online or should i contact my employer to check my visa category?

I think its an error from home office. Do talk to your employer and get it corrected to avoid issues at a later point of time.

@moonlight, thanks for your response. I will talk to my employer about this. i just have one other question. if this is an error in the system or the BRP card that needs to be corrected, will this BPR card still be treated as valid permit. in case if i want to go to india on a vacation and come back, will there be any issues with the immigration while entering UK?

It is an HO error. I have had the same experience previously with an incorrect visa category on a BRP card (PBS Dep instead of Settlement visa). Contact HO or BRP dept as they will need to correct the BRP with the correct visa category.

I received the updated and corrected BRP within a couple of weeks.
