Any advice? pls

Post by amilawal » Fri Jun 05, 2015 11:45 pm

Hello,
My partner got his ILR a month ago. myself and the children are on DLR visa . My children are age 8 and 3 years old and they were born here in the uk. My husband want to register the children as British citizens. My question is can we apply for the registration by ourselves or do we need a solicitor?
we cannot afford the thousands of pounds that my solicitor wants to charge us.
thank you .

You can apply yourselves, you don't need a solicitor and you can also use the Nationality Checking Service at the council, who will photo copy your documents and give the originals back to you. They also check the form. There is a small fee for this service.

See Citizenship FAQs (Click) children section and there is a link to the MN1 form and guidance notes.
