Concerned about completed application

Post by kn0wah » Sat Jun 13, 2015 5:36 pm

Hello all,

I just completed my Tier 2 application yesterday and signed up my appointment to have my biometrics taken. Looking more stringently at a couple things I am concerned that there may be problems about a couple things:

1) As I was advised to do by the corporate immigration specialist handling my case, I put down my Main Address and Contact Details of where I'll be staying as the location of my organization's office, since I am still trying to find somewhere to stay in the UK. It seems like this is standard procedure, would this cause any problems?

2) The supporting documents form says I will be allowed to enter the UK up to 14 days before my start date. On the "Date of planned arrival in the UK" I put a date that is slightly earlier than that. I do have visa-free visitor access to the UK with my passport, but nothing about that is mentioned in the guidelines. I haven't booked airfare yet, so the date I chose is definitely not concrete.

Am I being too nitpicky or are these issues that warrant some concern?

Thanks.

I can't answer your question #1 but for #2, you would have to enter the UK on your Tier 2 visa for it to become effective. If you enter before the start date of your Tier 2 visa and as a visitor, you will be stamped in as a visitor with restrictions on work as usual.

Regarding #1, its fine to mention the organisation's address. Once you find a house in UK, do ensure that you update your address details with UKVI.

Just to clarify, does this mean that I must enter within the 14 day period before my start date? Or merely that I wouldn't be allowed to work in the time in between? I'm guessing putting an earlier date on my application (it was like 17 days prior to my start date) isn't going to be a problem then, especially since it says "date of planned arrival"?

Hi,

I just got my Tier 2 visa couple of days back and I was also asked to write my office address as the main contact details by my employer's immigration specialists. This is absolutely fine!

Regards,

@kn0wah - You need to enter the UK no earlier than the start date printed on your Tier 2 Visa. You should not enter as a visitor.
