Limited leave to remain

Post by sleepyrascal » Fri Jul 10, 2015 9:38 pm

Hi,

I'll try to keep this short:

I am British, my wife is Russian.

We were married in the UK and she is currently 2 years into her limited leave to remain which we will convert to extended leave to remain in 6 months. Once she has completed the required 5 years, she will apply to become british.

SO, my question is this. I am likely to be transferring to our companies Abu Dhabi office and my wife will come with me. HOw does this affect the visa status? Can she still accumulate time towards the 5 years while we're away?

Once she nears the 5 year residence requirement on her spouse visa, she applies for ILR and only once this is granted can she apply for citizenship

If you are not living in the UK she cant stay here on her own either. Her visa is wholly dependent on you being here.

She'll have to start again on return to UK if that's the intention...

Abu Dhabi is too hot for a Russian lol!! Actually that's not true, my Russian partner had the heating on 24c AND the electric blanket on this week here in West Yorkshire, when it was boiling outside.......

At least your gas bill will be lower......
