British Citizenship

Post by Nba » Sun Jul 19, 2015 3:59 am

Hi All,

I just want to raise one question in to the British Citizenship forum, hope will get a satisfactory reply.
My wife just got an ILR last week July 2015(on 10 Years Long Residency Route). Is she able to apply British Citizenship straightaway or she has to wait for another 12 months. I'm her husband as British Citizen, and our children born in uk all are british.

The background is we got married in Oct 2003 outside the uk, she came to uk in 2005 as a student dependent of me then keep staying in uk on my student dependent, Psw dependent, Tier 1 General dependent. Now she got ILR (on 10 Years Long Residency Route).

Kindly let me know will she be able to apply British Citizenship straightaway if yes is it on 3 years basis, or 5 years basis, or she has to wait for another 12 months.

Many Thanks.

She can apply now provided she meets all the requirements (absence limits, present on the day exactly 3 years ago, etc)

Hi boloney Thanks very much for the reply,

which means I can apply straightaway for British Citizenship, and also do I have to follow 3 years route or 5 years.

Thanks.

Hello There, Thanks very much for the reply.

I still got confusion? Do we have to apply on 3 years route or 5 years route or either what's the difference.

Many Thanks.

5-year route is for non-spouses and, (under EEA regulations), 5 years also applies to EEA nationals who take the PR path instead of ILR path.

As you are a BC and your wife is settled with ILR it's the 3-year route in your case;
she can apply as soon as all other requirements (KOLL etc) are in place.
