Question about referee security

Post by unknown2015 » Sun Aug 09, 2015 11:19 am

hallo there,

One of my friends asked my to act as a referee to his application for Naturalization and i want to clarify something.

If lets say someone obtains my details and forge my signature , thus use me as a referee and he/she is successful , will i be able to find out ?

thanks

Unlikely you will find out as referees are rarely contacted. In saying that, referees should complete the relevant section in their own handwriting.

How would your friend have your passport details etc which need to be completed on the form?

well the other person can photocopy the page you had to fill in before hand-in to the home office , thus having all the info to use again

if i ask for my permanent record , will there be any info there ? as my details were used ?

So you have acted as a referee before if I understand you correctly?

It would be a brave person to use deception when applying for citizenship given that they have become very strict.

Is there a reason you don't wish to act as referee again? It has no impact on you if you do and at least he has asked you.

Your choice to act as referee or not and let him know either way. It is a risk you take.
